Kikyoya — Restaurant in Nakatsugawa

This was one of the most memorable bowls of ramen I've had - the owner makes it with lots of love & heart. After a long, cold, rainy day, my group had dinner at Kikyoya. Despite staying past closing time, the owner was happy and thankful that we ate at his restaurant and welcomed us earnestly. Even though there was a small language barrier, he explained every item on his menu in depth and asked us about our allergies.

I got the standard ramen with goheimochi. The ramen was pleasantly light and the chashu was super tender. The goheimochi was soft and tasty. The value for the meal was absolutely amazing - all of this was for under 1,000 yen. We left with our hearts warm and bellies full. I would recommend anyone visiting...

Small business owner, a real sweet old man who let us roll up late in the evening (~6pm) after he had shut down the kitchen and restarted the stove. The food was excellent, easily among the top 3 ramen experiences of my life. The chashu ramen was exquisite, nicely balanced and thick and rich without being overwhelming. チャーシュー麺を注文 スープは上品に香る煮干し系 脂でギトギトしてないあっさり目 こってりしたうどん出汁と言った表現が合うのかな？ かなりの肉厚チャーシュー 枚数以上に食べ応えあり また、ほろりと柔らかく赤身と脂身の比率が8:2くらいかな？
