The presentation was great and the ambiance was nice, but the flavor wasn't the best. I tried the Birria quesadilla and the Birria tacos. I thought it was kind of strange that you could taste a difference even though they're basically the same things. I didn't care for either. The quesadilla would have probably been the better of the two, but they burnt the tortilla shell so all I tasted was the burntness. You could clearly see it was burnt so I'm not sure why they even tried serving it.
Something else that was pretty annoying was they serve tacos in sets of three so I tried to order two different types being they all are the same price, but they ended up bringing all of one flavor (Birria). When I noticed this I asked the lady about it and she said you couldn't order them like that, which makes no sense. There is clearly confusion at first because of the language barrier, which was fine, but it makes no sense that you can't mix and match when they are all the same price.
As for the atmosphere, it had great vibes, but it would have definitely been nice to have actual tables and chairs. Trying to eat this type of food on the couches and coffee tables that they had just makes it extremely uncomfortable. the big thing to note about the atmosphere was the fact that it was a little dirty. As soon as we sat down I immediately noticed cheese sitting on the table from a previous customer. it makes it seem like they didn't even...
Read moreI grew up near the US/Mexican border and am one of those people that is incredibly picky about Mexican food. I have also lived in Japan for over 3 years and never had a good experience with Mexican food until tonight. The food was delicious: shredded and flavorful, not too greasy or dry, veggies were fresh and everything we ate was delicious. Their birria was amazing, especially.
My kid, mid-tantrum (we told her she should not have one if theire handmade donuts for dessert) couldn't stop eating the tacos. There are a range of non-spicy options for children but the atmosphere is chic enough for a date night.
I can't believe this gem exists here, it's by far the best Mexican food in Japan and is better than anything I've had on the east...
Read moreThis was an absolute pleasant surprise for us to find. We rented some E-bikes at the Nanjo City Tourist association and went biking. We climbed the big bridge and headed this way. We were about to turn around because it was getting late when I checked Google Maps for some lunch restaurants and found Laurel.. Mexican is my favorite and this was amazingly good and delicious!!!! They don’t hold back on the guac and the quesadillas were full with good tender meat. Wish I could return here...
