L'Ensoleiller — Restaurant in Nanto

An amazing surprise quite off the beaten path. Wonderful French food with a Japanese accent ( subtle ). A four course dinner but with four Amuse , yellow tail hors d’oeuvres and two of the best main dishes. Risotto with watercress and filefish and then roasted Wagyu beef.

At first we imagined we would choose one entree but the portions are just right so that we felt we had eaten enough but weren’t stuffed. Bigger than thimble sized portions of a tasting menu but not so big as to be impossible to finish.

Great wine list ( French wines) and many are reasonably priced .

It’s a tiny place - simple decor - focus is the food.

Eat here for a special evening. You’ll never get to eat at a one star Michelin anywhere else at these prices ( it’s not cheap - it’s worthwhile)

The chef came out afterwards and spoke with my husband ( in French) . The chef speaks only Japanese and French!

On the banks of peaceful Sakuraga lake in Toyama sits a gem of a restaurant. It is by reservation only and you have to call in at least 3 days in advance as they have to source for the ingredients which changes by the meal. And it was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while..

The restaurant is housed in beautiful Japanese home with a front row seat of the mirror lake. Arrive early for dinner and watch the sunset over the tranquility. The Japanese chef is french trained but he focuses on using local produce.

The full course omakase is exquisitely prepared and it will stimulate your every taste bud with its freshness and combination of flavours. The wine list is also excellent and affordable. 2023年9月の娘の一歳の誕生日に家族3世代5名で利用しました。 大人向けのレストランなので（以前大人のみで何度か利用）子どもは迷惑かもと思いつつ問い合わせすると、個室ならOKですと言っていただきました。 一階の奥に広い和室があり、テーブル＆椅子の席でしたが、和の趣がありつつも壁一面の照明がモダンでおしゃれな部屋でした。窓からは桜ヶ池が見渡せます。 畳の部屋は子連れの会食にはありがたく、おじいちゃんおばあちゃんにも「落ち着ける」と好評でした。

お料理はとても素晴らしく、素材も地元のものが多く使われてどれも大変手が込んでいました。 グラスワインは白赤何種類かいただきましたが、美味しくお料理にとても合いました。美味しいワインを飲みたかったので大満足✨

部屋には子供用椅子をセッティングしてあり、離乳食の娘にポタージュとパンを作ってくださいました。一緒に食事を楽しんで良い思い出になりました。チョコとお花で飾られたバースデープレートもとてもきれいで嬉しかったです。
