This ramen place is a hidden gem in Nemuro. It's very close to the JR station, and central to the town. The staff were very welcoming, and the wife started small conversation with us when we were seated. Despite the language barrier, she got where we can from, ages, etc. That helped ease us into the environment, despite being the only foreigners here. We ordered ramen, and the serving size was enormous! They were very generous with the serving size, and the broth tasted vert savoury. Read moreThe wife (I presumed) came over & try to explain every item in the Japanese menu. Ordered butadon & pork oyakodon. They are delicious & the quantity of pork is a lot. The miso soup has crab to flavour it. And they gave side dishes - sashimi, salad & braised fish (which is full sized serving).
After our meal, as we got up to pay, she insisted we sit down, served us ocha & requested us to open up Google Translate voice mode where we had a lively conversation. Imagine a 79 years old using smart phone tech 😁

Read moreThis is easily one of my favourite ramen shops in Japan. Between the exceptional food and really friendly and delightful owners, it's a place I came back to regularly while staying in Nemuro.
I tried curry ramen, spicy miso ramen, shio ramen, and the pork katsu curry and all were great, although the curry ramen and spicy miso in particular were standout.
Note that they're closed on Thursdays and between 2 and 5pm.
