Raphael — Restaurant in Niseko

Not great by any measure. Decent enough to get a beer and a light snack, but by a fair measure the worst rice, miso soup, and karaage I have had anywhere in Japan in the couple months I’ve spent across the country.

This is not to mention the prices which as far as Japanese standards go are borderline exorbitant. Couple this with a lacking presentation with plastic cups and paper plates and bowls and it’s a wholly lackluster experience.

Not to mention today, January 6, 2025, at 13:50, I heard the word gaijin used in passing by a female server behind the counter as I ordered a beer. (Costing over 1,000 yen.) My deepest apologies for my foreigner self inconveniencing the working staff for a draft beer, I suppose.

Ordered our food and it all came out at different times. One pizza took 90 minutes to arrive at the table after being asked 3 times what our order was. When we spoke to the waitress about this she spoke to the manager who then came out and started taking photos of me without my consent and pretended that he didn’t do it and my partner then asked to see his phone where he showed all his photos bar 2, and in the 2 photos he did not show there were two photos of myself and the waitress as I was paying my bill. Spoke to the customer service assistant at the Lodge Moiwa 834 he was excellent and called his manager straight away. Cannot fault the accomodation as they have been great although the service at the restaurant...

Sorry guys, but your quality and service has gone down now to a standard where I have to say something. We have been coming to ski and eat at Moiwa 834 for the fourth year now. What started out as an amazing experience has now hit a low. Your service staff are super rude and incompetent, and this is not just from one dining experience but from eating there almost every day. Menu is wrong, waiters don’t know anything about the food that’s being served and refuses to find an answer. Your Thai staff is nice! - that’s why the 2 stars.
