Cafe Scale — Restaurant in Owase

Unless you're one of Cafe Scale's regulars, you'd best just go for the coffee and pastry. They're very good. Pod espresso is offered too. The star of the establishment for the casual visitor will be the delicious daily tarts and other pastries and cookies made by proprietor Hamano-san's son Takayuki-san. The building was once an ironworker's shop, so its interior is a sort-of camp industrial scene with Hamano-san's hand-built wrought iron furnishings, including trestle tables resting atop ancient treadle sewing machine bases, treadles and all. The original welded truss beams painted black both support the roof and add to the atmosphere. We had been missing early morning & cafe culture on our Japan trip and this place really hit the spot. Our coffees were perfect and this cafe has a wonderful, peaceful and charming vibe. Highly recommend to anyone traveling through Owase. Thank you for making our morning...

土曜日の13時頃行きました。 お客さんはいなかったので窓側の端の席に座りました。 カウンターにはおじいちゃんがおり、いらっしゃーいの声掛けで気前よく出迎えて頂けました。 写真はいちじくタルト、マロンガトーショコラとキャラメルチャイです。 いちじくは甘酸っぱくみずみずしくタルトとのIc抜群でした。またガトーショコラも間に栗が入っており初秋の季節を感じられました。 キャラメルチャイはとても甘く美味しかったのですが、ケーキが甘いのですっきりした飲み物にすれば良かったと少し後悔。 でもどれも美味しく満足できました。

しばらくするとお客さん（常連さんかな？）もちらほら増えてきて、店奥から奥さんと息子さんも出てこられアットホームなとてもいい雰囲気のお店でした。 内装もとてもおしゃれでところどころに観葉植物が置いてあり居心地の良いお店でした。

近くを通ったらまた行きたいです...
