佐世保の老舗喫茶店「山本コーヒー」に土曜の14時頃訪れました。カウンターのみの店内は満席で、ほとんどの方が食事を注文されていました。常連らしき方が多いものの、一見の客も一定数おり、7:3ほどの割合に感じました。初めてでも入りづらさはなく、落ち着いた雰囲気の中でそれぞれが自分の時間を楽しんでいます。

喫煙可能で、昔ながらの喫茶店らしい空気が流れているのも特徴的。タバコを吸いながらコーヒーや食事を楽しめる貴重な場所です。

店主は職人気質で、必要最低限のやり取りのみ。愛想がいいわけではないですが、無愛想というわけでもなく、淡々とした接客がむしろお店の雰囲気に馴染んでいます。深夜まで営業しているため、夜遅くにふらっと立ち寄るのにも良さそうです。次回はコーヒーと一緒に食事メニューも試してみたいと思います。

I visited Yamamoto Coffee, a long-established café in Sasebo, around 2 PM on Saturday. The counter seats were full, and most customers ordered food. About 70% seemed to be regulars, but first-time visitors like me were also there.

佐世保にある老舗「山本コーヒー」に初めて訪れました。50年続くというその歴史に驚きつつ、アイスコーヒーを注文。香ばしい殻つきピーナッツが添えられていて、コーヒーの苦味をほどよく和らげてくれる絶妙な組み合わせに感動。マスターいわく、昔はコーヒーが胃に重いと感じる人が多く、ピーナッツを出したのが始まりとか。今も変わらずサービスで続けている姿勢が素敵です。レトロな雰囲気の店内には、ピーナッツの殻が床に落ちていて驚きましたが、掃除の際にはワックス効果があるそう。喫煙可能なカウンター席もあり、昔ながらの喫茶店らしさが残っています。佐世保バーガーやザクザク食感のミルクセーキなど、地元グルメも充実。奥のテーブル席には懐かしいゲームテーブルもあり、世代を問わず楽しめる一軒です。...
