寿園カフェ — Restaurant in Shimada

My family has been going there every time we visit Japan. It’s a nice quaint cafe with 2tables of 4 and one big table of 8. There is also another 3-4seats along the bar area. Very Friendly staff and great Atmosphere.

My son’s staple is the pizza while my daughters is the pasta from the main dishes.

Desserts hit the spot every time as well and coffee is excellent. The owner roasts his own coffee locally on premises. If you are in area checking out the “Thomas Train” it’s a great stop. We had shaved Ice and a Coffee Jelly Mini Parfait.

If you are a biker going thru I also recommend it as the scenery is unbelievable in area and seems many bikers stop by here.

Food portions are great. They also offer set menus during lunch time (I had pasta - Tea Rubonara…word play on carbonara - small salad and Ice Coffee all for 1150¥). Below is menu taken on 20th August 2024 keep in mind prices and menu changes.

Only thing I would have loved would have been some garlic bread to clean the pasta bowl as the sauce...

In 2023, my wife and I had 2 delicious pastas at this cafe that we still reminisce about. When we arrived at the station, we had only a few minutes before our driver was scheduled to pick us up, so we decided to order takeout from a nearby restaurant. Initially, we were hesitant to try it since it was at a random location serving Western food, but it turned out to be an excellent choice. ※2021年8月24日訪問 トーマスが走る大井川鐵道家山駅のすぐ横にある同店は、コンテナをベースとした店舗。時折遭遇する列車を横目で見ながら、パスタやピッツァ、デザートにケーキやパフェが楽しめ、昼時はランチ(例:パスタ+サラダ+ドリンク)の提供があります。 3月には道中で桜🌸の通り抜けが見れる他、近くには温泉もありますので、泊まりがけで訪問するのもアリかと思います。 ※緊急事態宣言の為、2021年8月20日～9月12日まではテイクアウト営業だそうです。

※2021年10月24日訪問 緊急事態宣言もあけ、ゆったりと店内飲食。期間限定の茶ノベーゼを目当てにお邪魔し、ランチセットでいただきました。

※2022年6月25日訪問 趣味の単車つながりで、友人らが来静。FBで紹介していたので、今回お目当てのお店ということで、川根方面から楽しむツーリングの際に寄らせていただきました。

同店オーナーが栽培する川根茶を使った茶ルボナーラを大盛にしていただき、ピッツァも堪能。時期限定の茶ノベーゼは、友人らが食してました。またこの日はとても暑く、かき氷が最高でしたね😋。
