Dessert after a wonderful lunch at neighboring Uemura Beyond brought us here…

ATMOSPHERE: A long, simple A-frame building on the outside gave way to a modern and inviting interior with big windows, plenty of natural light and views of the greenery outside. Seating is along the numerous windows, with the ordering counter in the center and visible egg production room behind that.

MENU: Cream puffs, pudding, soft serve, baked goods, cooked chicken. Fresh eggs for sale.

DESSERT: Chocolate Soft Cream Creamy vanilla soft serve made with farm fresh Hokkaido milk and drizzled with chocolate syrup, Hershey’s if I saw the bottle correctly. Simply delish.

白老町の 「mother's よこすと食堂」さん。 養鶏場が経営する卵かけご飯が人気のお洒落なお店で、やっぱり私は蕎麦をいただいてきました。 玄蕎麦は幌加内産のキタワセ。 並粉、中細機械打ち、十割です。 加水率は普通ですが、しかし、茹での際にかき混ぜるタイミングが早かったようです。まあまあブチブチでした。 つゆは 藪→→→→更科→→→→砂場 ↑このへんです。 うん。楽ですね。 今後はこれで説明することにします。分かりやすいし。 並蕎麦をいただくにしては些か辛めのつゆかもしれません。 蕎麦とつゆが合っていないお手本のような気がします。 お値段を考慮すれば、 まあ、まあ、まあ……ね。と、そんなもり蕎麦でした。 しかし、こちらはあくまで卵かけご飯が「売り」のお店です。 賢明な皆さんは、 私のように蕎麦を食べたりはしないのでしょう。 ならば大丈夫です。きっと。 ところで店名の「よこすと」って、なんだろう？ 私のコンパクトな脳内にある「よこすと」は「寄越すと」だけです。 寄越すと食堂？ いったい何を寄越してくれるのだろう……。 調べてみました。 どうやら「よこすと」とは、 アイヌ語で「獲物がたくさん採れる(獲れる)場所」を意味しているそうです。 ん？ 獲物？ 「獲物がたくさん獲れる場所にある食堂」 ん？ つまり「獲物」とは、私のことでしょうか？
