Board — Restaurant in Takasaki

I recently had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant. My girlfriend and I were staying in Gunma for a few days during our Japan holiday. Our host recommended the restaurant as it was close and was supposed to be great food. He sure was right, please do yourself a favour and come here if staying in Gunma. Run only by Ita-san you cannot get an experience like this anywhere else in Japan. It was so cozy and inviting, Ita-san’s personality is great and you can be yourself and have a laugh with him. He has some good English understanding as well so don’t be afraid to venture out here if your Japanese is not that good. I had the karaage set and it was delicious and filling. Ita-san even picked us up and drove us home on a day it was heavily snowing a true testament to his character. Please please please...

Had the most amazing 3 nights dining at Ita-san’s restaurant. Beautiful food and a cozy atmosphere. It really is a gem when staying all the way out in the outskirts of Takasaki/Gunma. Our sweet husband and wife Airbnb hosts recommended Board and we couldn’t have been happier we took up the opportunity to go. Ita-san even went the extra mile and drove out to our Airbnb to pick us up for dinner during the snowy weather. My partner and I had the best time and cannot thank you enough! The chef is incredibly friendly and sweet! He prepared all the food fresh himself. He makes his own kimchi and it’s quite good. Would definitely recommend— we walked quite a ways to visit, and since it was a slow night, he even offered us a ride home. It was wonderful!
