totoro — Restaurant in Takashima

Absolute hidden gem!! Very delicious and highlight of my meal for my Japan trip this year. I would rate their beef dish higher than my $200 Kobe Beef ☠️. The sauce for the beef was really exquisite with a moderate amount of fat and enough meat, not too soft but enough to melt in your mouth. Absolutely amazing. Also the pork tonkatsu dish was amazing too! Perfect amount of crisp and not too greasy while the pork is still so soft!! Never knew pork tonkatsu could be so soft, fantastic! Would definitely come here again but with my friends next time. And also the restaurant's name is totoro, they have a cutout of him at the entrance, with the chef being a very friendly guy, what's there not to like? Highly recommend!! Very worth for the price...

The chef is a character, the staff are lovely, and the food is always delicious.

I'm a local in Makino, I visit this place whenever I want to chat with someone friendly. Or whenever I have friends from overseas visitinge, and I want to show them authentic local cuisine. I've been in the building when local fisherman walk through the door with their catch of the day, and the Master cooks it up for them, right there and then. (I usually get a taste, too) . You can't get fresher than that.

The Omakase Teishoku is my favourite meal. It has a little of everything, from sashimi to pickled vegetables to tempura, along with a healthy serve of rice.

So so sweet!!! How lovely it is! I enjoy delicious seafood and noodles here with blossomy sakura . It was a fantastic experience to me. In this restaurant, the chef with traditional Japanese style gave me a surprising live show that he pared a big carrot only with a knife, thereby I could taste the freshness of the carrot immediately. Sashimi, fried vegetables, and Yam noodles are incredibly yummy. Waiters here are so nice and kind. I really want to come back here next spring. Besides the delicious food, I also appreciated the sceneries and resorts here as well as their sincere...
