A small Indian restaurant located next to the Nishi-Sugamo train station.
It was our last day in Toshima and we hurried down to this place to grab a quick dinner. We were the last customers for the day and even though it was close to closing time, Mr. Kumar (I believe the owner and chef) and his son welcomed us graciously.
We ordered butter chicken, chicken achari (a spicy soupy curry), palak paneer, and a variety of naan bread. Even though the garlic naan wasn’t on the menu, the chef catered to our small request and served us.
The food was amazing and well priced and sadly, we were so hungry we unfortunately did not have time to click pictures.
Hoping the next time I come to Japan this lovely crib is still around! For those craving Indian food in the vicinity, this place is a must go!
If visiting in large groups I reckon you should call ahead and reserve some space due to limited seating or just order takeout.
Thank you Mr. Kumar for your hospitality, was a night...

We had an absolutely heartwarming experience at Kumar Dhaba during our visit to Tokyo. From the moment we walked in, Mr. Kumar (the owner and chef) and his son greeted us with genuine warmth and hospitality. They kindly guided us with recommendations and even went out of their way to prepare a special Chicken Pulav for us — a dish that wasn’t even on their menu — and it turned out to be one of the best we’ve had!
The next day, we dropped by close to their closing time, and to our surprise, they extended their hours by 30 minutes just so we could enjoy a relaxed meal. Despite the late hour, they welcomed us in like family. Mr. Kumar even had a lovely conversation, sharing stories and making sure we felt cozy and at home.
If you're craving authentic Indian food with a side of heartfelt hospitality in Tokyo, Kumar Dhaba is a 100% must-visit. It's not just a restaurant — it's...

It had a really cozy atmosphere, and the Saag Paneer I had was excellent. I definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the mood for Indian food while you are in the...
