I saw an article introducing this restaurant’s fried pork cutlet rice, so I decided to try it. We arrived at the entrance before the store opened. Shortly after we entered, everyone who had made reservations arrived. In addition to counter seats, there are also seats for four people inside.
As soon as we entered, we noticed that the three flower pots under the air conditioner on the right were filled with water, which overflowed onto the ground.
The store clerk did not clean up the water and let us sit at the nearby counter seat, even though the water had overflowed onto the ground.
The store is decorated with Hawaiian scenery, and the store name is also related to Hawaii, making it difficult to associate tonkatsu rice with Hawaii.
The waiter introduced us to the various sauces available. There are many kinds of sauces, but I think the main attraction is the fried pork cutlet itself. If the fried pork cutlet rice is delicious, it will be tasty even without sauce.
There is a message on the bar table stating that the fried pork cutlet is cooked at a low temperature, so the meat is pink. This reminds me of the Tonkatsu Daiki (とんかつ 大希) at Keikyu Kamata Station, which also specializes in low-temperature fried pork cutlets .
The food was served about 10 minutes after ordering. The meat was very tender. Because of the message on the bar table about the low-temperature cooking, I ate it without worrying.
When I ate the last two pieces of tonkatsu, I saw blood, so I asked the store clerk to fry them again. The fried pork cutlet didn’t look very thick. Is it because it wasn’t heated enough or the thawing time wasn’t long enough? I hope I can enjoy the fried pork cutlet with peace of mind when I have the opportunity to go...
Read moreThis is quite possibly the best dining experience I've ever had in Japan. That says a lot because I've been to Hokkaido and back on a motorcycle and been to Fukuoka and back by car. This place really needs it's own YouTube video review if it doesn't already.
Let me start with the vibe. You walk in and immediately notice the mellow vibe. Chill reggae music with a soft songbird track in the background. Surf and beach style decorations on the wall. Great ambiance.
The food is delicious! They start you off with a hot tea which is amazing itself. I had the menchi katsu set and everything was on point. The miso soup, cabbage with dressing, the orange slice and vegetables were all so delicious. The katsu itself was so juicy, crispy and tasty and it came with three different sauces plus Himalayan salt which the server comes to politely explain to you each one.
Which brings me to the staff. So friendly and polite! These guys were models for what restaurant workers should always strive to be like.
I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars because it certainly deserves it. I almost feel enlightened after such a great experience. Obviously I marked it on my google maps so I will definitely be back in the future...
Read moreBest tonkatsu we've had! Chefs and staff are so friendly and cute, they even gave me a small present! It's my keepsake of my time spent there. They call themselves Silky Tonkatsu and they really live up to their name! Pork is so thick and juicy and the breading is immaculate. They even have their own in house sauce to pair with the tonkatsu, it's amazing! Went twice, 2nd time on our last day at Omorimachi because it was THAT good and we wanted to end our trip with a good and hearty meal. This place is a real hidden gem situated in a...
