We recently visited Kozushima and wanted to eat sushi on our way home. There are only three sushi restaurants on the island, and this is the only one open for lunch. Since Kozushima is an island, we had slightly above average expectations for the fish. On our final day, we ordered their specialty box set for ¥2500 to go.
As you can see from the picture, the color of the fish itself looks off. The taste was not much different either. The tuna had a pungent flavor and seemed inedible.
For ¥2500 you get seven - YES ONLY SEVEN - pieces of sushi, and only three varieties of fish. The chef said the fish were local to kozushima, and that was true solely for the red squid. The tuna and amberjack are standard sushi for all of Japan.
I would absolutely AVOID this restaurant. There chef had no passion for the fish and seemed uninterested. It really showed in how the fish tasted. After having been in Japan for 20+ years, I can say - without any hesitation - this was the worst sushi...

価格も7貫で3000円(一律)とまぁまぁお高めで、子供含めてお寿司か海鮮丼(価格は同じ3000円)は注文必須なので、少々敷居は高いかも。
サービスでいただける自家製の漬け込み酒はなかなか強烈で、ビールや焼酎を単品で頼むと1杯1000円とこちらも気軽に飲めない。
同じくサービスでいただける魚の煮付けはとても美味しかったです。
店は薄暗く、店主はちょっとクセ強めかもしれません。
