A real Japanese experience. Exactly what I had been trying to find for 3 days. Fantastic food, good old-fashioned service from an owner operator. We were the only foreigners in this sushi bar. Everyone in there were locals, people who'd grown up in the town. Nothing but sushi is available. I think this shows the level of speciality and authenticity. Some were a little unlike what we had eaten before, but most were amazing. When we gave a better idea of our palate, it was perfect. I can't name all of the fish, but I'll try some. The more common different salmon and tuna, then flounder, mackerel, sardines, octopus, squid, and a few I can't name. Oh, and Whale! When in Japan. Draft Kirin Ichiban, local whiskeys, sake, and sujo. Every Nigiri is made and placed directly on your plate. Real wasabi, with the slight admission of a little added radish. Fresh, delicious combined with fantastic customer service. Nothing was too much trouble, very family friendly, we had outr 9month old with us. Put it on your to eat list. Thank you for having us, we will be back before we leave Nakano.

So do yourself a favor and go here. Tiny neighborhood sushi bar (8 seats) but you won't find a bigger welcome. Chef and his family were so kind and patient with us as we bumbled through the menu (all five of us, my wife and three daughters, nearly taking up the whole place; thankfully it was a slow Sunday evening!), cobbling together Google Translate, pictures in the menu and guidance from our kind host (whose English far exceeded our Japanese, needless to say...). Delicious sushi and deep fried burdock root "gobo" (a house specialty), well salted and pleasingly crunchy; a perfect companion to Asahi on tap. Our first meal in Shinjuku after a 7 hour flight and we could not have been happier. And yes, we stayed for a little whiskey too! Highly recommended.

I ate here while I was staying in the neighborhood for my first trip to Japan a few months back. It is very small, and I was lucky I got there early enough to get a seat right away.

The staff were incredibly helpful and kind; my Japanese ability is quite limited, and they were very patient as I figured things out. The sushi chef is very skilled. I got a meal set based on his recommendation, and it did not disappoint! Everything was so good, and the atmosphere was very nice. I would go back again if I found myself...
