Thai Restaurant Marai — Restaurant in Tokyo

Pardon for the harsh review but Oizumigakuen deserves a much better Thai restaurant. If you feel like having Thai food near a station on Seibu Ikebukuro line, I don’t recommend putting this restaurant at the top of your list.

Their prices are unfathomable given the quantity and quality of the food at lunch time. I imagine the street vendors on Khaosan Road would be embarrassed by how they skimp on ingredients. Sure, the curry of their Thai green curry is good, but you’ll get more meat from a ¥128 sumibi yakitori stick from Family Mart. The same goes with the serving size of the gapao gai. The pad Thai is dry, regardless of whether you order it for eat in or to go. Their only saving grace may be their friendly service.

No wonder people don’t line up here and the store looks empty most...

タイ料理が好きになりました。 あまり詳しくないながらも、辛いイメージとパクチーなイメージしかなくて。 知ってる料理もトムヤンクンくらい。 なんとなく今まで、タイ料理じゃなくてもいいかなと思っていましたが。

まずはメニューが豊富で、写真で料理が紹介されてる上に辛さ表記も。 しかも辛さマックスな料理も食べましたが、心地よい辛さで料理の旨味もちゃんと感じられました。 あとこれは１つの発見ではありましたが、ソースの種類が豊富で。 それぞれの料理に適したソースが添えられていて、つけてもいいし、つけなくてもいいし、他の料理に添えられていたソースをつけてもいいし。 料理の美味しさはもちろんですが、ソースも美味しかったです。

要予約になりますが、タイスキがあったのが嬉しくて。 次回は予約してタイスキ食べたいです。 ...
