Excellent local food prepared by sweet old ladies. The fish was excellent and so was the cold side soup. The cake and ume drink were a real treat - they are not included in the menu, but you can order them after you seat down. Like most of the places on the island, you need a good dose of patience. They usually have two food options (fried fish or vegetable curry when we tried) and they tend to run out of at least one pretty quickly. They open at 11.00 and by 13.00 the fish was already gone. The place gets busy early. They take no reservations and have a waiting list by the door (write down your name and number of guests as soon as you arrive). We arrived at 12.00 and already had 6 people in front of us. Please, avoid showing up late as you might and up waiting and not get served - it happened to a friend. Overall, it’s worth the wait. The food is tasty well prepared and well presented. The staff is kind, although language is always a bit of a...

You should arrive before 12 to make sure you get served. As soon as you arrive, write your name down on the list near the door. We had the fish menu, with locally grown vegetables. Everything was delicious and the service was friendly. One person of the staff spoke English. The atmosphere is very pleasant and the architecture is interesting. The interior is beautiful, with low tables and cushions to sit on. There is also the option to sit at the bar looking at the kitchen. The curry menu can be had outside, so you can skip the queue if you go for that option. We came with our 4 year old son and they served us some extra rice for him with a plastic plate for kids and kids’ cutlery. My son loved the rice, fish and green beans and...

Climb the seven circles of hell in a hot summer day to discover that although they claim to be open until 4 pm they actually close the kitchen at 2 pm. That would not normally be such a serious matter except for the fact that it is good hour climbing a relentlessly steep hill in 31C heat and 90 percent humidity to get there. In those circumstances they really do have a duty of care to be more clear about their hours. In spite of showing them the entry on google, they were totally unaccommodating even though there were six of us there including...

There's a fully vegetarian menu available (upon request) and it's delicious! The vegetables used are biological and harvested locally, then charred and served with rice, pickles and soup. The flavors were so on point! Make sure to arrive early because there's a waiting list. Inside the restaurant I noticed some empty seats, I'm not sure why they were not allowing customers to occupy all available space.
