Odd experience: we went in the morning to ask a table and were told it was fully booked, then the guests in our homestay went in the evening and were told it was booked but as there was no one they managed to persuade them to have a table but they were only allowed to have a pasta and couldn't move inside when mosquitoes were biting them. We tried to get a table again and they told us they were fully booked once more but there was almost none there.... True story is the Benesse's owner who also own this place were there for dinner... Sad to create an unpleasant experience for other to keep it an exclusive night for the millionaires (a sign saying 'private function' could have avoided all of us foreigners feeling odd about the whole thing). Go to the izakaya in town, he is lovely...

Sea Restaurant

Visited during the Setouchi Art Festival 2022 Spring. During the previous festival (before the Corona disaster), we visited without a reservation and found a long queue. This time, we made a reservation a week in advance and visited the restaurant. 90 minutes per group was enough time for us to enjoy the view of the sea. The floor staff made us feel welcome and made us feel good. We were also informed that the location of the restaurant is marked on the map of the brick island attached to the pizza oven.
