Kowatai Thai Kitchen — Restaurant in Tsukuba

tl;dr: Food is good but expect a wait to get in, and another wait until you can actually eat.

Came here on a national holiday for lunch. Arrived around noon, waited over half an hour to get in.

I ordered the chicken gapao rice, and it took... 20? 30? minutes to reach the table. I asked for less spicy, and there was barely any spice at all 😅 Oops. It was tasty, but to be honest I've never had a bad gapao at any of the Thai places around Tsukuba, they've all been delicious.

Mother ordered pad see ew, which was almost a little sweet. She used some of the vinegar to even it out. Her food came out in around 10 minutes, and she was almost done eating by the time I was finally served. The kitchen seems rather inefficient in how they process orders...

They currently have a rule of parties only being up to 4 people, and a 90 min time limit. Clearly isn't helping with the wait times at all, though, but goes to show how popular the place is

Came here for lunch. All lunch sets ¥1000, and there are 10 sets to choose from. Cook and one wait staff are Thai, owner Japanese. Service was great. This place opens at 11:30 and there were 5 people waiting to get in. It filled up in less than 20 minutes. Food was super tasty and authentic Thai.
