The curry and hojicha cheesecake were both flavorful; even the water tastes good! And the hosts are so very kind; we were busy planning our drive around the island as we ate and they shared with us guides and manuals for the island -- we're ashamed to say that we were so focused on planning that we never asked their names. Even so, they were very kind to us.

They also have a photo album-like menu that makes it very easy to order, even if you don't speak Japanese. You can flip through and comfortably show what you would like...

We stopped here for an afternoon coffee after hiking in the area and instantly fell in love with this little cafe. Once you walk in, it feels cosy and relaxing. They actually had a decaf coffee on the menu and for my better half a soy latte. We ordered - besides the coffees - a home made green tea cheese cake and bitter lemon cream cheese muffin. Both were phenomenal! The owners were so wonderful and welcoming! We would love to return again, on our next visit...

Tiny quaint cafe on the way to the Yakusugi Museum. I mainly intended to visit for coffee after it was suggested to me at one of the shops I was at earlier in the day, but they also serve a variety of mostly venison based curry/stew dishes that are perfectly sized for a light lunch. The owners are extremely kind and friendly, limited understanding of English but managed to make conversation work though...

Beautiful, cozy cafe with a very sweet couple running the counter. Super cute decorations. Delicious coffee and deer curry too! We were the only ones there at the time and they were so dedicated to provide us information about Yakushima. We did our best to communicate despite the language barrier and they were so patient with us! They waved to us as we drove off too.... One of our favorite moments that day!
