セーラ — Restaurant in Yokkaichi

A fantastic little place off the beaten track for a foreigner, this was a breath of fresh air away from the bustle of Yokkaichi city. The owner is a delightful little chap who immediately welcomed me to this cozy space, and made me feel at home. He said that he has been running this place for about 40 years, and it shows in the characterful atmosphere inside. Beautifully antique furniture and decor topped only by the food that's served. A really lively little cafe just off of route 1. “Sailor” (that’s an English guess; the name is セーラ in Japanese) seems to be the hub of activity for the neighborhood. Lots of animated discussion around the counter seats when I was there in January 2023. A real bargain for the breakfast “bowl”. Any drink plus ¥100 gets the breakfast pictured here. Tea was ¥400, so ¥500 total....
