ロシア料理がなぜ海沿いにあるのだろうか？しかも、店名が火の鳥とはなにゆえ？と家族で長らく行きたいなと話に出てきたものの数年来、バタバタして忘れていたが、ついに訪問できた。11:30に予約して、ほとんどの客が12時までに席に着いてほぼ満席になるのがびっくり。

そして壷焼き、ボルシチ、ピロシキを堪能する。驚くべきことにモスクワの一流店や繁華街のパン屋で買うどのピロシキより美味いし、壷焼きの蓋をするパンもボルシチの酸味具合も最高だ。日本化した味なのかもしれないが、極めて本格的で壷焼きの中のスープがトマトやパプリカなど選べるのや、具材につぶ貝まであるのはきっとこの店にしかできないバラエティ豊富なサービス精神だろう。 ちょっと粉が多いモッタリとしたクリームソースなのも寒い隣国を思い出させる。窓からは海がのぞき、もはや美味しさと景色にうっとりして素晴らしい昼下がりを過ごした。

店名のロシア民話の絵本も拝読でき、手塚治虫の火の鳥もきっとこれをモチーフにしたんだなと思いを馳せる。火の鳥を探す旅と、この店の開店から30年余りが重なって見えた。海風にペンキの店名がほとんど消え去るように歳月を感じさせるが、確かにここに美味いものやを作り営ん...
