In Japan, beef is divided into many cuts, each with its own name and price. This culture originally started about 50 years ago at high-end restaurants in Tokyo, as a way to add value, but quickly spread across the country as many Japanese customers can distinguish subtle differences in taste and texture.
Please note that shimofuri (marbled cuts) can be quite fatty. Cuts like harami (skirt steak) or ichibo (rump cap) are highly recommended. Surprisingly, these premium cuts, often considered luxury in Japan, are available here for less than 1000 yen.
The restaurant is a bit far from train stations, so taking a taxi would be more convenient. Even so, itâs absolutely worth the visit to experience the true atmosphere of Japanese yakiniku.
