I originally didnât want to review this place here as I was worried that too much praise and attention would make this local hidden gem impossible to book, but I just cant hold out any longer.
First of all, the food and drink are fantastic. The food is seasonal and locally sourced from Jersey, and it was all completely delicious from start to finish. Itâs not all Jersey Royals either. The style can probably be described as âFrench rusticâ. Donât expect Michelin level plating, but personally I think it suits the whole atmosphere of the place.
The Cider (oh the cider) is perfect. Created with the tradition, skill and patience in the Normandy style, it is up there with my favourite ciders of all time. I am gutted they donât export it to the UK. You can get it in Dry or Medium, but I quite like a half and half mix of both, which is completely possible and reasonable here as it is only available in pints!
What really tipped this place over the edge into one of my favourite experiences in Jersey was the service. The staff are all incredibly friendly and professional, and at the moment, the owners are very involved in the front of house experience, taking reservations and helping organise and serve as waiters. The head chef also kindly came to our table to answer our questions about the food and the cider. Everyone is so personable and knowledgeable, and eager to help make your experience a pleasant and interesting one.
One thing you should know before booking. Due to planning restrictions and maintaining good neighbourly relations, you will most likely have to get to the Les Laveurs car park opposite Jersey Pearl so you can get a free shuttle (or walk) uphill to the restaurant in good time before your reservation. Getting there can feel like a bit of a trek, but it is so worth it.
Thank you so much to Richard and Sarah and all the staff here for making our evening so memorable. I hope you get to expand to all days of the week soon. I will bring more friends on my next visit,...
