Probably one of the better italian restaurants in nairobi but very expensive. For starters the mushroom soup was delightful however they didnt have much else choice for vegetarian starters unless you wanted salads. Mains however did have more choice and the rissoto was really good. To end with the tiramisu was my personal favourite. Wines were at minimum 4k a bottle and house wine was 1k by the glass so prepare yourself to use a fortune on drinks as the waiters deliberately take their time between courses (its an elaborate ruse). Overall the ambiance was great and there was a live band playing chilled out music. The restaurant had been decorated for Christmas. Although, I had come for my Christmas dinner here on Christmas eve because they were closed on Christmas day which I found quite bizzare.

“At La Villa Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar, I ordered mushroom and chips thinking I was keeping it simple… kumbe, the mushrooms were so good I almost asked for their birth certificate. Crispy chips, perfectly salted — the kind you eat one by one at first, then suddenly you’re eating them like you’re on a timer. My friend went all in with steak, and the way it was juicy and tender… I swear I saw them look at it the way people in movies look at their soulmates. We paired it all with wine, and honestly after the second glass, we were ready to start singing Italian love songs to the waiters. Hii place is a whole vibe — warm lights, great service, and food that makes you forget you even came with a budget. If you don’t see me there again soon, assume I’ve been kidnapped… by their mushroom chef. 🍄🍟🥩🍷”

This Italian restaurant is an absolute gem! The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection—juicy, tender, and packed with rich, savory flavor. Every bite was a delight, especially with that delicious sear on the outside. But the real star for me was the mashed potatoes —creamy, buttery, and seasoned just right, with a hint of garlic and herbs that made it irresistible. The combination of the steak and potatoes was pure heaven. If you’re looking for a meal that feels both indulgent and comforting, this place is a must-try! This keeps it warm, enthusiastic, and highlights your favorite dishes naturally. Let me know if you'd like any tweaks! 😊

start with the positives, ambience is nice, service and staff are friendly, hence the two stars.

The food, I’ve definitely had better. It was my husbands birthday, and having heard good reviews we decided to celebrate his birthday here. Firstly when we entered, the staff couldn’t find our reservation, which was done a lot earlier in the day. They sat us at the wrong table, and then moved us to the correct table 15 minutes later.

Moving onto the food, for starters we ordered to share, the Trio of crostini, a crostini is bread that is suppose to be crunchy and crispy and toasted, the bread served was moist and dense, as if the bread had just been sliced, the toppings placed and served to us. We obviously sent it back after telling our ever so lovely waitress who was serving us for the night, she even agreed that the bread should be crispy, being a crostini. She was happy to take it back and change it. After having changed it, we faced the same issue, this time even smaller sliced pieces of the white baguette, and was moist!. Not too thrilled but we decided not to send it back this time, even having told our waitress about it.

Moving onto the mains, we ordered a bog standard Ricotta and spinach Ravioli in a tomato sauce and a Fungi pizza. The pizza was decent. However the Ravioli was just about under half a centimetre big, with hardly any ricotta and spinach filling, and was 12 seconds under al dente, and unpalatable.

We spoke to the chef after the dinner and told him what we experienced. About the crostini, he said if I had asked the waitress to toast the bread she would have done it for me, which wasn’t the case, it’s not the job of the waitress, and the cherry on the top, he mentioned because he had served over 190 guests this particular day, the kitchen was very busy, and mishaps like this should be acceptable to a paying customer. Didn’t know this is the way restaurants are suppose to work, I thought the whole idea is to maintain the standard regardless of 190 guests or 1900!

I don’t think we’ll be heading back anytime soon. But thank you to our waitress for the evening. The two stars are for you.

Service 6/10 Ambience...

Went there yesterday (Wed, Jan 24th 2024) for a quick pass by date. It wasn't planned at all, I was just hungry and my partner brought me here so consequently we did not have reservations. We were greeted at the door with so much warmth and kindness and regardless of having a reservation, we were sat and they even kept my belongings so I wouldn't have to worry about comfort. Customer service was really great, really friendly. They definitely knew the menu and their recommendations were spot on, food was timely and they definitely knew the balance between checking in and letting you have your space. The setup was well lit with intimate lights that somehow make you feel like it's just you in the whole place in spite of everyone else being there. To be honest I expected a little or some type of discrimination having being younger and definitely a bit underdressed, but there was none! They treated us just like everyone else; smiled, served, conversed and responded all the same. The food was cooked according to specification and their portions were great. Keep in mind we did not get a course meal. It was literally just the main dish and a few cocktails that's it and by the end I couldn't even finish my food! I do wonder if things would be different if the house was full or if they really are genuinely amazing people. I'll definitely be visiting on one of their busiest time of days to make sure but above all they are really wholesome all rounded. Definitely looking to be one of my favorite places. La Villa thank you for giving us a special time and a break from the real world to just focus on what mattered. You have my heart...

We were there on Sunday 31st December, 2023 a group of 8 at the Private room booked by Mr. Nitin, the Headhancho of Kapa Oil.

We were very well welcome by the hostess:  Bilhaj who already made us feel at home especially being that Mr. Nitin is a regular guest at Lavilla.

I have also been there a couple of times before and must appreciate the great welcome and wonderful opportunity to celebrate the New Year at the Lavilla.

The waitress Harnlore did a wonderful job and was very well assisted by Margaret and Lavina.   We were there till 3 am and they did an outstanding job.

The bitings of prawns and mushrooms were excellent.   In the main food, the fish was very good.   The vegetarians dishes were also excellent although there was one vegetarian dish that was out of stock for Mr. Nitin.  Luckily, Harnlore and Margaret said they had to find one for him as it was a New Year. The drinks were excellent.

I will be coming there again with my family this Wednesday 10th January, 2024.   Hope we will be accorded same excellent services.

Congratulations once again and keep up the excellent...
