We stepped in on a Friday afternoon with 4 adults and 4 kids in tow..it was around 12.50pm-not one person was even bothered to look at us or attend to us-red flag I know-shouldāve walked out right then but since the kids were hungry we sat ourselves down and began perusing the online menu so we could rush things a bit.. All this while there was no welcome- we needed an extra table and literally had to call someone from the counter and request for something that should be done soon as you enter a restaurant.. Placed our order and asked to be served with 2 plates of chicken nuggets and 1 plate of fish fingers from the Kiddie menu soon as was ready since the kids are small and were very hungry.. placed the adult order and was told the biryani had run out- well bad luck- got a pizza, some 4 shawarmas- hence began the big wait .. it took a long tedious 45 mins between which we followed up several times with the unwelcoming and unsmiling staff and asked them at least to bring the kids food if nothing else.. After a good 45 mins where we were at a point of almost walking out, behold -in comes the pizza- it was eaten so hot by the hungry kids that no one even took the time to taste it.. it was then surprisingly followed by shawarma- at this point we were really confused- why have a kiddie menu if you canāt serve kids at the beginning of a meal- we asked again and were mercifully-an hour after weād ordered- served for the kids one plate of chicken nuggets and one plate of fish fingers- was not a surprise that the completely hopeless, unhelpful, unpleasant and unsmiling hostess had botched up our order⦠they figured giving a couple of balloons to hungry kids would pacify them for long as it took to prepare the lackluster food we eventually got š for the price charged, the food was below average and the service stank entirely- pull up your socks and greet with a smile if nothing else.. I wasnāt sure if I donāt put a star on service it would appear or not because for this one Iād remove from the zero and go the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHi-Way Lounge is the epitome definition of a Hidden Gem: Yeah, it's in a nondescript name located in a nondescript location of a petrol station and yes, the ambiance is nondescript as well.
B.U.T.: Ohhhh the food, the presentation thereof and the plethora of menu options (including full bar), holy molymoly!
I feasted on fresh grilled red snapper with a mountain of creamy mashed potatoes, grilled mix veggies and garlic naan so warm, garlic-ee and soft I did not even have to chew it. Or my lady's grilled beef medallions (well done she ordered) so tender and juicy she didn't have to chew it, either.
And the presentation: Pity I did not take pics of the plates. If you saw them you would think we were dining at (pick your fave 5star).
And to top it all off, when I got the bill, I fell out of my chair! I didn't buy the food, I stole it!
Soooo...bottom line: If you desire an exquisite culinary experience for a pauper's price, then Hi-Way Lounge...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came two days in a row...food honestly is amazing, from the butter chicken to the hummus to the shawarma. Really delicious. The atmosphere is really nice especially for an indoor setting. It's a different ambience in itself. Now.....service is the lacking point. Not because of the servers being poor at their work. The servers are really pleasant. But surely especially for a weekend. 2 servers for 15 plus tables.. ..I placed my order at 1pm. My drink (coke) came at 130, the food at 215pm. I thought maybe the first day I came it was a one off. But the second day decided to time it. I recommend if your coming in and need a quick bite. Call ahead and place your order. Food good, ambience beautiful, service........wanting. HIRE...
