The Captain made a quick touch & go at Fang Fang located just off James Gichuru, Lavington.
For starters I tried the chicken and sweet corn soup and the chicken spring rolls. For mains I had the chilli garlic chicken, oyster beef and egg fried rice.
The soup can be very spicy so ask for mild if you can't handle chilli. The spring rolls had lots of filling and were nice and crisp. The mains were also quite good and the portions were generous.
The main entrance to the restaurant is closed so you have to go round back and sit in the open garden extension. There is no sign specifying this so when I rung the bell at the main entrance the lady owner quite rudely asked what we are doing and asked us to go round to the back.
The service is lacking as there is only one waiter on weekdays and he gets overwhelmed with doing everything alone. At around 10.20pm we couldn't take away our left overs as he said the owner has closed the restaurant and that we should also be heading home. The garden and surrounding area lights were also turned off while I was still seated.
The ambiance in the garden is nice however the dining area is very basic with some very plain tables and chairs, nothing fancy.
If you can handle the feisty and rude owner and deal with the lacklustre service on weekdays, the food wasn't bad and was reasonably priced.

Β Β Β Read moreThere's a lot of hidden potential about this restaurant. Loved that we could sit outside and enjoy the greenery without it being crowded as many restaurants are on a Sunday afternoon. Food came quickly in good portions (except the fries); the waiters are mostly mature and pleasant. They have a kids area with a bouncing castle and trampoline. Loved that it wasn't busy. They give free ice cream with every meal though they ran out when we asked to pay for additional servings of ice cream. The toilets need some work. Paying the bill was like pulling teeth. We couldn't add more drinks to the already existing bill until it was paid for; because we were in a group some line items were moved around..that was an issue despite the bill being paid in full. The manager / owner is hesitant to talk to / deal directly with customers for whatever reason when we tried to sort out our bill and the waiter was being sent back and forth between us and the manager. That aside it's a nice place to...
Β Β Β Read moreWe went yesterday for mother's day lunch. There were two servers that I saw the entire time we were there. He hadn't been able to seat us before someone was shouting at him about a group coming and to go set the table for them. There is a struggle for customer service here. We may have been 4 yet we should have received the same treatment as tho we were many.i had ordered black tea, it came lukewarm. We waited over an hour for our food, never received serviettes or a veggie dish we ordered and as we were finishing the meal we were told they didnt have the veggies we had asked for. When asked if we wanted something else, it was too late. They had our server literally running from table to table. I mean, pay a little more for more staff especially on a day like mothers day. You have potential to be a great place..but I cannot recommend you if it's going to...
