Haru Karen – where my taste buds packed their bags and moved in permanently.
First of all, if you’ve never been to Haru, let me ask you nicely but firmly… Why are you playing yourself? This place is a quiet bombshell. Hidden in Karen like a secret only foodies are allowed to know — and I am now one of them. Officially inducted after one magical meal.
We had the chicken noodles and pork noodles, and let me tell you, it wasn’t just food… it was a love letter written in flavor. I legit sat there wondering whether I should clap for the chef or write a song about those noodles (I might still do both).
The chicken noodles were soft but not shy, spicy but polite — like that ex you wish you’d never left. And the pork noodles? Sweet Lord. Tender, juicy, bold… like a K-drama plot twist in your mouth.
Now here’s the kicker — we washed it all down with Asake wine (no, not the artist, though same vibes). I don’t know what kind of sorcery that wine has, but it brought the meal together like a last-born cousin bringing the whole family to the dance floor at a wedding.
Atmosphere? Chill. Staff? Super friendly. Prices? Honestly not bad for the quality. Parking? Exists (you know how Nairobi can be 😩). Perfect for date night, friend hangout, or solo therapy session with noodles.
Bottom line: If you’ve been thinking of trying Haru, this is your sign. And if you don’t like noodles… well, go anyway. The wine alone is worth writing...
Read moreHaru is a good restaurant. They boast fine Japanese food and have been around for some time now. I have no problem with the food, the setting, or the staff per se. But today while ordering sushi, a not so gentleman wearing riding boots walked in quite frazzled and immediately started listing his order to my waiter, mentioning how he's in a hurry to the airport. Without even apologizing, he just headee straight to a table to wait for his food, with his companion following.
But that's not what annoyed me. My waiter stopped helping me with my order and immediately wrote the man's order down, giving it to the chefs, telling them it was 'urgent' then coming back to me without apology.
I'm disappointed that this type of thing is still accepted and can't even be dealt with. From the man acting presumptious and entitled, to the waiter dropping all professionalism to act subservient, to me not even being able to stand up and confront the situation.
Sure enough, I ended up waiting for my take out, even after the man and his companion walked out past me finished with their meal. Haru, I don't have a problem with you wanting to take care of your customers, but please remember that you have the ability to treat all your customers fair.
In summary: if u want to do take out,...
