Java House - JKIA Airside — Restaurant in Nairobi

Had to use this place last month. Nairobi airport overall was a bad experience, unfortunately our original flight got changed and we had to fly to Nairobi to get back. We went to this restaurant, started choosing our food, initially we were told there were only couple things not available, then we were told we would have to wait couple hours for any food to arrive. Being exhausted, we decided to have drinks and wait for the food. We were then told, that they didn't have almost any of the non alcoholic drinks we wanted. When it came to food, I have specifically asked the waitress, if my salad could be made without an onion as I have bad intolerance. She said this was fine. While waiting, a member of the airport staff came to find us to offer us lounge (due to the issue with the flight) and said that they would pack the food for us as it was already made and we can eat it in the lounge. Well, what was our surprise, when we opened the boxes, pizza was completely missing. And my salad and lots of onions all over it which contaminated the whole meal so unfortunately couldn't eat it as I would be very unwell...

The food is good. I especially appreciate that there are vegetarian options. But we didn't have a great experience with the service. It was hard to get the staff's attention. Then, when the waiter took our order, he made a mistake and sent for a veggie burger without cheese (I asked for a veggie cheeseburger). When I told him, he went back to get the cheese. But when the bill came, they had charged the cheese as an extra topping, which was more money than charging for the cheese burger. I made him aware of the mistake and he said that it was ok, but when he brought the change, they had still charged the extra money. I told him once more and he was very resilient and kept making excuses and making us wait, probably hoping we'd give up and leave. In the end, I had to go to the cashier to get...

Incredibly rude and actually hostile 'service' - there were only a handful of customers and many many staff, but food was left sitting around while staff chatted and seemed oblivious to the need to bring food or drinks to anyone. I ordered drinks with our food, but again, staff stood around chatting and no one bothered to pour them until i asked quite some time later. The drinks were finally brought and slammed down in front of us. Our food was completely cold when it eventually arrived. Not only was this disappointing but we felt completely unwelcome. We left our drinks and our food and instead went to the place around the corner (Tembo bistro) where staff were absolutely lovely and the service...
