Mubins Cafe — Restaurant in ziwa La Ng'ombe ward

We had worst experience and racial profiling. We ordered our food and after 15 mins the waiter came and informed us that the food we ordered chicken tikka is finished. We had ordered another food and the ordered came and started eating, Indian guest came and they asked us to move to another table and told them that we can’t move the food since our food is on the table. The food was not well cooked. When we asked for the bill, we had to wait 20 mins and after reviewing the bill we were over charged previously food that we were told was finished. I approached the waiter that served us and he was nice and said to come with him to the cashier and adjustment will be done. When we reached the cashier and the waiter explained the situation. The cashier / owner started yelling to the waiter loud and disrespectful. I explained to the cashier kindly that the waiter was not his mistakes because the food was finished, adjustment was done but I felt bad for the waiter and he was treated unfair. An old gentleman approached me / manager.... asked me the situation and started yelling and saying that I don’t belong to the restaurant and should not come back. Poor customer service. Poor hospitality and unfair...

I travel to Mombasa from the UK on a regular basis and can tell you that Mubin's is one of the best places in Mombasa to visit.

It's not just the good food, but the service, the atmosphere, and the facilities. It's well run, well kept, it's clean and tidy. I feel like it's the sort of place I can take guests for a friendly get together and impress them.

But despite all the above it's extremely good value. You can order a banquet of food to your table and you won't need to take out a second mortgage... like you would in some other places in Nyali!

But the main reason you're going here is the mishkaki, the masala chips, the fresh fruit juices (think passion fruit squeezed straight into your glass fresh), and their grilled chicken. (I've only just returned from a visit to Mubin's and I'm already looking forward to going back thinking about all these delicious items)

No cutleries provided . Poor ambience. Had only one waitress running all over the place , cannot blame her for getting the orders messed up . Had to call her numerous times to get the orders correct . Owner needs to look after the welfare of the staff. Felt like they wanted us to eat quickly and get out , the cleaner saw the empty plates and took it away, not asking if we are finished: there was food on the table , we were just talking waiting to eat the next lot . Should have the courtesy to ask if we were finished or needed anything else . Started cleaning the table before the bill had been paid. An experience that will not recommend to anyone.

The owner needs to address the needs and treat his staff well. Create an environment that they are not rushed so a better customer service is provided and ensure at least there are cutleries on the table.
