My recent experience at Maasai Beach Bar and Resort left much to be desired. While the location itself holds promise, the service provided fell short of expectations in several key areas.
Firstly, the efficiency of the wait staff and supervisors left much to be desired. On multiple occasions, my friend and I experienced unacceptably long wait times exceeding thirty minutes before being attended to. Moreover, it was evident that preferential treatment was given to foreigners over locals, a disappointing observation that tainted the overall experience.
Furthermore, professionalism was sorely lacking among the staff. The demeanor of both the waiters and supervisors left a lot to be desired. Their lack of urgency and attentiveness only served to exacerbate an already frustrating situation.
A particular incident on April 27th, 2024 around 8:30pm, stands out in my memory. I was attended to by Ms. Irine A, whose behavior was nothing short of rude and disrespectful. Not only did she present the bill before we had finished our drinks, but she also directed me to seek assistance from another waiter, displaying a complete disregard for customer service standards. Regrettably, the supervisor on duty, whose name I did not ascertain, supported Ms. Irine's actions stating that 'its the establishment policy' without offering any form of apology or acknowledgment of the inappropriate behavior.
In summary, while Maasai Beach Bar and Resort boasts a pleasant environment, the subpar service marred what could have been an enjoyable experience. Addressing issues of inefficiency, favoritism, and unprofessional conduct among staff members is imperative for the establishment to uphold its reputation and provide customers with the quality service...
Read moreI'm not happy with the service at the restaurant. The service time is too long over an 1hr to be served an English Breakfast whilst the place is not packed. The waiter disappears for a very long time without checking if I'm still ok.
But what makes matters worse is that on your menu, you do not stipulate the different tea options you have. I was surprised to be served tea premixed with dairy milk without my consent or prior being informed of the options. When I told the waiter that I'm allergic to dairy, they told me that I was supposed to have mentioned prior to ordering that i don't want milk ,bear in mind that no written tea options, no written descriptions of the teas - no waiter asked if you want black tea or with milk. What's visibly shown on the menu is ginger tea. When I asked to speak to the manager they said they weren't available,I asked why, they said they are currently out - imagine. Eventually, another waiter understood & gave me the tea advertised on the menu included in the English breakfast.
Recommendation :
Write on the menu what the customer should know prior to ordering: 3 tea options: Black ,with milk or ginger tea.
Alternatively The waiter must tell the customer: " We have 3 different tea options, black with milk ginger, which 1 would you prefer? Disclaimer, the kitchen staff will mix the milk in your tea for you if you pick this option.
Why ? Its a proactive approach Reduces friction between myself as a customer and the waiter My expectations are...
Read morePoorly run. Out of all seafood but fish by 8pm. Mojito had to be reordered as flat. Didn't eat so will give them one more chance. We'll gave them another chance and even worse. Out of our choices again so changed order. Cocktail was horrible. Can't make an old fashioned. More bitters than bourbon. Food came. Despite asking for crispy fries both the burger and fries were wrapped in cellophane, cold and mushy. My dates meal was changed to a chicken platter that was supposed to be Kienyegi chicken and instead a mix of bone in chicken, peppers and potatoes mushed together. Waitress said please accept or they'd take it out of her salary. [This pitch was made before the order arrived,,] Unbelievable. At least we got some meat on the bone unlike that fellow's curry! Never again. Save yourself some...
