Happy Restaurants & Bar — Restaurant in Khammouane

🙏 An incredible restaurant near Kong Lor cave! It is on the main road towards the cave and opposite a school, it was nice to see cattle and kids go by during one of my visits here :) I visited during the Thakek loop and I am so grateful and happy to have found this place! I was in the area for two days and I repeatedly choose to eat here :) The interior is clean and simple, big tables and lots of room, they offer free filtered water also 🙌

⭐ It is absolutely one of the best veg curries I have ever had!! Every meal I had was so so tasty and freshly made! I would really recommend the yellow veg curry and the pad thai. The coffee and banana fruit juice were both super too! There is an extensive menu and you can ask for your meal to be made vegan (I have it written in lao to explain I am vegan) and I do believe that many of these dishes are naturally gluten free :) There is both local and western options. All the food I saw looked like it was made to a high standard.

❤ What makes my experience here also very memorable is Tom and his family. Tom is super friendly, caring and I really enjoyed talking to him and learning about his life, it was super interesting! Him and his partner are doing all the cooking, it takes some time as it is cooked freshly and I feel lots of love goes into what they create because it is so so scrumptious! They have a little boy who I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with, he is really so funny and curious, he often would walk around playing with things and it brings me happiness to see this curiosity and innocence that all lives inside of us :) I am really happy to have been able to connect and make a friend in Laos, you guys really added to my time in here and I would look forward to coming to dine at your restaurant every time, maybe I will return someday! I know your little kid probably keeps you up at night as he is at that age yet you still provided good food and work very hard! It was also super nice to have a wall where people can write their messages, I was pleasantly surprised to see messages from other people from Wales, slim chance of that I think! Came woth about 20 people to the restaurant for a dinner. We were all very satisfied with our dishes. It took a while for everyone to get their food, but it was worth waiting. Delicious Eastern and Western food, great prices, and great atmosphere! Highly recommend the rolled crispy chicken with cheese and the fried chicken red curry dish. Absolutely divine!
