Highly recommended. It is like a spa for the soul. This place and the people here are magical! I had a morning village artisan class making Laotian dream catchers with Mon and Lin. It comes with free lunch if you book morning and afternoon class together. I had an afternoon tie dye class with the manager Sengchan and Bee. There are many reasons why I would come back 100%. 1) The staff is absolutely lovely people. They are so patient and kind. Especially Sengchan, she is so knowledgeable and personable. I like her so very much! 2) Surroundings are so beautiful. You are making art in front of the Mekong with a gentle breeze. There's even a treehouse you can relax in. 3) (For tie dye class) You can connect with nature by using natural ingredients directly in the garden to make your art. We were digging tumeric out of the ground for yellow and cutting fruits from the Annatto tree for orange. How cool is that! 4) You can try traditional Laos lunch in the beautiful garden overlooking the Mekong. 5) It is for a good cause to support local women and help preserve their art. I will definitely come back and do the other classes next time I'm back in LPB. It might be hard to book via online form, email and phone, but don't give up because it's absolutely worth it. I just showed up before 9am and they were able to arrange the day. They are pretty flexible. There is spinning demo at 11:30am-12:00pn and 4:30-5:00pm. You can stay longer at the place to enjoy the beautiful sunset on the Mekong after the...
Read moreUnbeatable view of the Mekong River, even clearer and better than from the inside of town. Especially during sunset. I visited the cafe once during dinner time and once during lunch.
Even during lunch time, there is sufficient ventilation from the fan and river, and shade that the weather is bearable and pleasant.
Food is pretty good. Recommend the seaweed and Luang Prabang sausage. Tamarind fish is fresh.
I walked to and fro here from the Joma Cafe at Chaofa Ngum Road in town, and it took about 30 mins each way. Just walk straight all the way along the sidewalk. The dogs that hang out in the little alley in front of Ock Pop Tok will ignore you - if you're afraid of dogs like I am.
However, do beware that there are cats at the cafe. When I was there at dinner, there were 2 cats fighting and prowling loudly. They fought and ran under an occupied table which really scared the customers.
Diners had to prompt the staff to remove the cats from the...
Read moreWhat we expected to be a good place really didn't exceed expectations. Service wasn't great to start with, empty cafe but took time to take our order. Drinks then forgotten, and we had to ask twice to get our food order taken. Food arrived, and we were asked to move table as they were doing building work - it would've been nicer for them to ask before or after we had eaten our food, not during. Food itself wasn't very flavoursome, had better elsewhere. Also covered in coriander, which isn't to everyone's taste and definitely ruined the flavour of my meal. Should be an optional garnish.
As it's on the pricier end, I would expect more.
The one positive thing is the layout of the restaurant and the view. Nice...
