Melna Kamene Gastrobārs — Restaurant in Ogre

The place has a great location and a cozy interior, with a lovely outdoor terrace that’s perfect for warm days. Since it was too hot, crowded, and loud inside, we chose to sit outside — and that was definitely the right call.

Their selection of cakes and desserts on display is absolutely amazing and very tempting.

We both ordered Caesar salads — mine with prawns, and my friend’s with chicken breast. We also ordered two portions of sweet potato fries with sauce, thinking they’d be great to share alongside the salads.

That’s where the confusion started. The sweet potatoes arrived quickly, and we were told the salads were on their way. After waiting 20 minutes, I politely asked where they were. Five minutes later, I got my prawn salad — but my friend received his chicken with regular potatoes as a separate dish. Quite ridiculous, considering we had already ordered sweet potato fries. Who would want both types of potatoes in the same meal?

We asked what had happened, and the second salad was brought out very quickly — clearly a rush job.

Sadly, the salads were a huge letdown. Mine was honestly one of the worst Caesar salads I’ve ever had. Instead of Caesar dressing, it was drowning in mayonnaise, which had pooled at the bottom of the plate. And, of course, cherry tomatoes — which don’t belong in a classic Caesar — were thrown in as well.

It’s a real pity. With such a beautiful setting and strong dessert game, it’s disappointing to see a classic dish like Caesar salad served with so...

Even in early spring, the restaurant was uncomfortably hot inside.

We ordered fish and beef—both were disappointing. The fish was extremely dry, and the beef had a strange aftertaste. Out of 3 types of dishes, only the salmon was decent. As for dessert, out of two options, only the cream was passable.

The wine was served at room temperature, and the cocktails were warm and outright disgusting.

To make matters worse, one of our diners got sick afterward, having eaten and drunk nothing else that day.

I am not sure if it is tasty here or not. We came inside and waited for 15 min but nobody came to check us, to ask for order or just to see the QR codes. Inside the restaurant looks pretty but the waiters were checking other clients (that came after us) and nobody wanted to come and ask us for an order. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend it to my friends. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New...
