Review: Racial Discrimination at Orchid Lifestyle Beach, Lebanon
As a Black tourist, my experience at Orchid Lifestyle Beach was nothing short of degrading. From the moment I arrived, I was treated differently like I didn’t belong.
First, I was told to take off my kimono and pants and walk around in just a bikini because I was “too covered,” even though I was fully dressed and respectful. No one else around me, especially non-Black guests, was given such instructions. Still, I complied to avoid confrontation.
Then came the towel. Unlike other guests whose beds were properly prepared, the staff member flung my towel carelessly onto the bed as if I was a prisoner. Not a greeting, not a gesture of courtesy. Just pure disregard.
When I asked for an umbrella due to the intense heat, I was ignored. I waited over an hour under the burning sun while other guests were quickly attended to. It was deliberate and humiliating.
What I experienced wasn’t just bad service it was racial discrimination. No tourist, no human being, deserves to be treated like this. I do not recommend this place to anyone who values respect, dignity,...
Read moreThe resort is one of the widest sandy beaches in Lebanon. Orchid was once a nice resort which I had frequented many times end which led nicely into this sandy beach . its main drawback was always that a power plant was very prominent on the coast nearby . During my last visit they had done the unspeakable which is to use 3 m high rubble and concrete boulders to obliterate nearly the entire beach right up to the waters edge so as to build ugly looking swimming pool complexes . That a country with so few sandy beaches to allows this is already unthinkable , no doubt a little bribery of local officialswent along way. What you are now left with is a cheap looking resort that may as well not be by the sea and from which the view of the sea is ruined by a power plant . You get the the worst of both worlds now . They may as well have built their 1980s style concrete pool resort up on the hills somewhere without the view of a power plant given that they have cut themselves off from the sea and left the beach intact for the country's citizens...
Read moreThey have a disgusting discriminatory policy that does not allow women to swim in modest swimsuits and therefore they're not allowed into the resort. I've swam all over the world in my modest swimsuit but wouldn't be allowed to swim at this resort. Their responses to similar reviews is even more disgusting. How about instead of replying with the same brain dead response comparing the modest swimsuit ban to your shisha ban and people under 18 ban, maybe try re-think your disgusting policy to welcome ALL swimmers in. We're all human and you treat people that want to dress modestly in pools like they're second class citizens. Discrimination at...
