I will neither eat here again nor recommend it to anyone. The smell, the not so courteous staff is a turnoff!!
The food was not the best Indian I have had it was mediocre and I was not impressed with the staff. I waited after the meal to be presented with the dessert menu or to be asked if I would like a coffee and it was not forthcoming. Although I notice that some people were asked at another table. So I drank my overpriced water from this simple decor and non existent ambience place, at €8 for a 1L, paid and left.
They were not even busy. In fact the waitress tried to move our table more towards the middle of the quite narrow eating area where people were passing to exit the restaurant or queuing and paying for their meal and I told her we will move when customers take the 4 seats two tables combination that I had moved our table closer towards. Had she been smarter or more customer friendly especially as I asked to sit away from the middle she could have given us the table closest to the wall and created a 4 seater with the middle table and the table she placed me on! After all it was just a combination of two seater tables joined up so easy to shift 🤦🏽♀️ !
The main deterrent about this place however was the nasty stench encountered on heading towards the restroom. It was revolting 🤮 smelt like a sewer or something. Had I smelt this before ordering I would have left! 🤔 Wonder what the state of the kitchen is…. And really hoping I don’t end up with...
Read moreIt was a terrible experience at the Surya. Right from the entrance where a very unwelcoming lady stood. I would like to summarize the experience this way:
On entering, we kept looking for a place and asked the lady who was standing in front of the counter. She didn't even acknowledge us, on asking her a couple of times she gestured rudely - baith jao
I asked the lady for a small spoon for my 3 year old daughter, she heard me and went inside the kitchen completely ignoring the request. I had to ask another staff for the spoon which I realized was very much there on the counter itself.
While my 3 yeard old daughter was finishing meal, this rude lady came up to me and asked us to leave to make place for other guests.
I asked her for her name for which she said - she didn't know
I went and asked another gentleman for the manager, to which he responded 'The manager's gone out'. Couple of minutes later we discover he was indeed the manager himself.
We complained to the other staff about the rude lady, to which he said that she has problems in understanding either Hindi or English and is undergoing some personal problems. But, her demeanour towards the european guests was completely different. It was perhaps the first time we felt discriminated and felt outwardly rude behavior and that too from an Indian/Nepalese which am not sure. Not going ever back to this place to spend 50 Euros to be asked to leave when still eating their...
Read moreNot sure where the awesome rating comes from for this place. Food was mediocre at best. Nowhere near being authentic Indian food. Not sure why others claim it is, never been to India perhaps? Lamb Vindaloo was not even close to being spicy. Half of the chunks in the curry were pieces of potato instead of meat. The photo shows two main dishes. Now I am a big eater, but wasn't hungry tonight and still could eat both of these myself within 15 minutes with ease. In other words, portions aren't big. Also used to with pretty much every Indian place you will get some Chappati or other Indian starter with sauces included. Not here. Called in to check if a table was available before heading over there. Call was messy and difficult to understand. Sounded like fitting one person in was tricky. When I arrived, pretty much the entire place was empty, so not sure what the deal was. Place has 0 atmosphere. Staff not overly friendly. Really people, there are soooo many much better Indian places to eat in Luxembourg city. Please don't waste your money or even time...
