Happiness Food Restaurant — Restaurant in Borneo

Located at a satellite town near the river crossing along the Miri-KB route, this value for money restaurant dishes out familiar local dishes at affordable prices.

I would like to showcase the humble Midin (Bidin) wild vege in the first photo, one of my all-time favourite vegetables! This is actually a wild fern shoot that can be harvested from the wild or just along the drains besides the roads. Fried in sambal blachan or made into Umai salad, this beautiful curly and super crunchy vege has a unique texture that cannot be found anywhere else. It is very fragile and could last only 24 hours. Hence you don't find it outside Sarawak (or Borneo, as some parts of Sabah and Kalimantan should have this plant as well).

Their Mani-cai fried with egg is also one of my new favourite. Somehow, this dish is only popular only in Sarawak for now.

The fried kampong chicken served was also different from the usual farmed chicken, with a delightful firm texture.

Overall satisfied with the dinner. Don't mind...

Their roasted chicken is good. Crispy skin and well seasoned and spiced. 3 stars though because the portions for some of their foods are not worth the price, not even by other normal chinese food restaurant standard. E.g: Ordered a RM50 chinese wine stemead shrimp but there were less than 20 pcs of shrimps (not even large...

Extremely poor attitude. Shouted at us when we request for cut chilli. Didn’t even bother to clean up the nearby table for our entire session.... while staff was playing with her phone.

Food was full of Ajinomoto. Felt thirsty before the meal is done, lol.

Tried to overcharged us but we figured it out....
