3 years ago, I gave this restaurant 3 stars, and wrote this in my review "Wonderful settings and scenery to accompany an otherwise average tasting Thai food.".

In my most recent visit, I'm exhilarated to report that average tasting Thai food has evolved to excellent tasting Thai food. Now, when I come to this restaurant, I get to enjoy an excellent view, excellent al fresco dining experience (in cool weather of course) and excellent food.

I had the privilege to have been attended by the very friendly and knowledgeable lady owner who knew all the dishes well, and was able to provide recommendations that were modifications to what was on the menu. As a result, I got to enjoy 2 items that were off the menu; the bean sprout kerabu and glass noodles with a fresh mud crab. The bean sprout kerabu was a first for me, and my initial expectations were the use of regular mung bean sprouts, but to my surprise, the restaurant used their self-cultivated peanut sprouts which were so huge I thought they were the bottom of spring onions at when they came to the table. They were perfect when served as kerabu which accentuated their sweetness accompanied by their delicate crunch. According to the owner, they were cultivated for 14 days in the dark with fresh hill water from the same hill we're on, and I believe her. The glass noodles with fresh mud crab was also an excellent recommendation, and I got to enjoy the sweetness of the mud crab with the glass noodles as opposed to the more common prawns. There is a bit more work to be done to get to the crab meat, but nothing good comes without a bit more effort eh?

The pandan chicken was fragrant and moist, the breaded and fried kangkung was fantastically crispy, and the green curry was masterfully prepared with a moderately spicy, thick, rich and creamy coconut milk sauce with tender chicken and aubergines. The basil leaf garnish finished off the curry with a nice herbal balance as well. The otak otak here is also a perfected dish; filled with fish meat, prawns and squid which has varying cooking times, they've managed to cook all the ingredients to the right doneness. The prawns were juicy and tender, the fish meat was moist and flaky, and the squid was not rubbery.

I ordered way too much food for a party of three, but we polished off all the plates. Did I feel uncomfortably full after? Yes. Will I order too much again the next time? Also yes.

One more note. Since this restaurant is no longer a well kept secret, do come early or make reservations to avoid...

I wouldn’t come back. Very disappointing service. We brought kids with us who needed baby chairs, requested 3 times and waited 45 mins just to get baby chairs. Then waited another hour for the food to arrive. Crazy thing was the table beside us just literally took our food away (customer issue) from the counter. And we notified the owners that since this is the case, we would just cancel the rest of the orders, didn’t wanna wait for another hour just for it. So here’s the catch. You’re in the service line. If another customer literally just took another customer’s food, you as the owner should arrest this issue, apologise and maybe even just provide a small tiny gesture. For e.g: apologise and just give even a small discount or don’t charge for the drinks. It’ll make your customers happy and they would return. Instead, they even gave free stuff to the customer who took our food away and just acted really ignorant towards our complaint. We brought this up to them and their response was “those customers are our regulars”. So? You’re willing to sacrifice a new customer who would potentially recommend more customers to visit over a regular customer who literally took our food away? Wow. We brought friends from overseas and this happened. Such a bummer. If I’d give them a negative...

There are 3 things to review here. First off the road that is leading the restaurant, it was way better then i imagined. They have proper road and you just need to drive slowly. Road is filled with lights not as what some review mentioned probably they fixed that issue. Next off i would like to review on the view, to be honest i was amazed to see another part of penang from a hilltop restaurant. Please go there by 7pm so you can get the sunset view. We took quite a number of pictures. I really enjoyed the view from the restaurant. Lastly i would like to review on the food, we ordered quite a number of dishes. The tomyam here is a bomb, its a must try and it has this authentic thai taste. I would say the same for the fish. What we wont like was the claypot taufu and fried squid. The fried squid was super expensive, it was rm40 for the portion they gave. The rest of pricing was reasonable. Overall i will...

Loved the dining experience here! The place is clean, well-kept, and the staff are super attentive. I’d recommend calling ahead for reservations; you’ll be rewarded with a stunning sunset view while enjoying a flavorful meal. Every dish we tried was delicious. The squid stood out with its tangy, spicy gravy that packed just the right punch. The tomyam was exactly how I like it; rich, flavorful, and not watery, with the paste blending beautifully into the broth. Prices are slightly on the higher side, but honestly, the view and overall atmosphere make it worthwhile. The drive up the hill adds to the charm, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot a peacock along the way. There’s also parking available and a viewpoint nearby that’s perfect for snapping a few photos with nature as your backdrop. A lovely spot for both good food and a memorable dining experience.
