Nurul Ikan Bakar Special Penang — Restaurant in George Town

👀 a group of 7 people decided to walk in here. Atmosphere/location- The parking spot is huge so easy to get parking and it’s not that far from the restaurant. The places is really huge and it’s good for gathering as they have many fancy places to sit down, such as small booth or small table where you need to sit down on the floor/stage. The toilet is located outside of the restaurant which is ok but lack of signboard of showing the way to the toilet.

Service - They have host to help customer to sit down / order at the front. I’m not sure if there’s a shortage of worker or they are busy, it’s kinda hard to grab their attention as we wanted to get the menu or order extra food/ drinks.(hopefully their worker can be more attentive to their surroundings)

Food & pricing - the price is lightly higher than other place but seeing the portions could feed 7 people is quite reasonable. List of food that we ordered: grill fish. kailan kangkung tomyam campur telur dadar ayam masak pedas cendawan goreng sos tiram sotong goreng Some are hit and miss. The grill fish and ayam masak pedas were delicious 🤤 but others are kinda bland 🕺🏻 dia mcm ok ok je la. Boleh makan Tapi it’s not that kind of food that will make you crave for it.

Conclusion: it’s great for gathering or supper time as they open in the evening until late night. Good for people who finish working 12 hours shift and need food to fill up & relax at...

We waited over 35 minutes at two different places situated there. At the first space located more on the inside, we were told to wait and then was turned away even though I can see empty tables and chairs. They told us to try the other outlet nearer to the bridge exit. We were told to wait there and the waiter forget we exist. Then after many minutes of waiting, we were turned away with the excuse the space was full even though there were even more empty tables and chairs.

It was disappointing since my friend drove over 15 km to get to that location. I also recommend that location to many friends because I stay near that region. That should just put a signboard saying the space is full to save people the waiting time. I saw reviews saying you might as well call to make a reservation, so maybe they should put up a calling number or update a website on their availability so that people can save their time driving to that spot.

If there are limits on the number of people they can hold after the MCO, they should just put up a board there but there was nothing of that sort there. I see they have this type of feedback on bad service over the years, so maybe this is...

The food was okay. The satay and siakap putih was good but the tomyam, kerang bakar (more like boiled) and kailan ikan masin was not up to expectation. Quite plain compared to other restaurant similar to this.

Service was not good. The workers were sitting near my family and were chatting and making loud noises. At one point they were ringing the service bell non stop as a joke and interrupted our meal. To make matters worse, the workers were cleaning the table next to us but did it in a very loud was, banging the utensils and plates in the container somewhat intentionally as if showing their unhappiness at their work. This was really disturbing and we decidedly to quickly leave the restaurant.

The price was expansive and I felt that it was not worth it as the food and service was not up to my expectation.
