🌟🌟🌟 BIANG BIANG Seafood Restaurant: A Journey of Mixed Impressions
While waiting for the nearby duty-free shop to reopen due to a temporary license renewal, my wife and I found ourselves at BIANG BIANG Seafood Restaurant—drawn in by Google’s highly recommended dishes and a curiosity to explore the venue’s culinary narrative.
We selected five dishes informed by popular reviews, hoping to uncover the essence of the restaurant’s appeal:
• Garlic Pork Ribs were visually inviting, with a golden-brown crust and a liberal sprinkle of fragrant fried garlic. The texture was commendable—crisp on the outside, tender within—though a touch more depth in seasoning could elevate it further. • Salted Egg Prawns had a luscious coating with hints of sweetness from the yolk, but the overall richness felt subdued. A slightly bolder salted egg profile would have added the missing punch. • Roast Pork Kailan delivered contrast and comfort: juicy roast pork against stir-fried greens. While the pork held its own, the kailan leaves lacked vibrancy and freshness—an element that could refine the balance. • Kam Heong Lala was the dish that resonated most. Bold, aromatic, and layered, the sauce married curry leaf fragrance with shrimp umami and a touch of heat. It represented a confident execution of a classic. • Crab Meat Sharks Fin Soup arrived in a delicately presented single-serving bowl, priced at RM30. While the flavor was light and well-balanced, the portion size felt disproportionately small given the premium pricing. For a dish that traditionally evokes indulgence and celebration, this rendition leaned too far into restraint.
In sum, BIANG BIANG offers glimpses of culinary promise. The meal reflected solid effort with flashes of brilliance—particularly the Kam Heong lala—but also revealed opportunities for fine-tuning, especially in value alignment and ingredient freshness. With a bit more refinement, it could truly stand out amid Johor’s vibrant food scene.
🌟🌟🌟 BIANG BIANG
BIANG BIANG...

The salted egg prawns are heavenly. Don't even bother plucking the shell as it is good taste gone to waste, save for the head.
The lala, it is those finger and shell licking quality and with that 1 dish, you could finish the entire plate of rice. Flavourful, not too spicy, a good strong aroma of the combination between belacan, shrimp and curry leaves. Heavenly.
The fried chicken wings may seem dull. But be assured, each bite between the bones will have you moaning and pouting from crunchiness and ballooning taste.
I have to stop. My stomach is growling.
To end, it is one heck of a good meal that the journey in just for this meal makes it...

I ordered a fried glass noodle and a fu-jian la mien noodle, both dishes being my favourite. And it turned out to perfectly satisfy my expectations as it was savoury enough. The fu-jian noodles were delightfully served with fresh prawns, la-la and squid as well.
(Edit)On separate and subsequent visits, I had a go at their seasonal chilli crab. Also tried having a live whole steamed fish (Grouper) for dinner, which was very fresh and absolutely delicious.
Savoury and fresh seafood at its best is what I'd...
