Restoran Nelayan Langkawi — Restaurant in Kedah

I did not know how to order when the first time coming here, so there is a lot of confusion. So, when you want to order, you have to go first at the back of the restaurant and then pick your fish plus weighing it. Then, you tell the chef how to cook the fish (there is menu) and they will give you the table number. After you got the number, pick your seats and they will ask for your drinks. The waiters are very kind and helpful so even if you did not know the flow of order, they will help you. The wait for the food is very long so dont drink a lot since you will feel full before you can eat. The food is very fresh and delicious, also please expect some insects since the restaurant is located in the middle of mangrove forest. The price is affordable and good for big groups. We got here early and were the first dinner diners. But it started filling up as we left. Friendly service from two staff in particular, who helped us choose the sotong (squid) and recommended what sauce to have it with. We got sotong kunyit (turmeric), and flamed grilled aubergine. This was served with complementary ulam (?), and we ordered carrot juice with milk. Everything was tasty, although we aren't used to ulam!

I loved the casual and chilled out setting, and the picturesque fishing boat vibes. The food seemed fresh and there was a "menu" with pictures on the wall where the fresh seafood was laid out for you to select. The grilled food was cooked on coals for taste.

I would go back to try prawns, which were sadly, not available today. I am sure the atmosphere is livelier later in the evening too.

My family eat the other branch:restoran family langkawi 2 which is nearby from the main restoran coz main restorant already crowded with a lot of people.

For the meals, we pick ikan siakap(seabass) masak stim. Ikan siakap was very fresh and delicious. Petai bakar also taste very good. However, tomyam was not great, very below average + sotong goreng was fried using tepung ayam: the taste was very bad.

For the services, the workers were nice. When we arrive, there was only 2 family, so we think we were lucky since we expected the services will become fast. Unfortunately, our food&dishes were served after 1 hour wait huhu

Definitely not coming here again because the management for this restaurant was very bad eventhough the workers are nice.
