This place was a chance selection courtesy of Google search. My family and I were in the mood for some Thai cuisine for dinner and we were well pleased that we made this place our choice. Siam Amarin Cafe is actually a Thai restaurant serving authentic Thai dishes, although they may have tweaked their dishes to suit Malaysian palettes and tolerance for spiciness.
Tucked away in a quiet street off the main thoroughfare, Siam Amarin Cafe presents a quaint, foliage adorned front which welcomes it's patrons. The interiors were just as tastefully appointed but the star was obviously the food. We ordered Steamed Red Snapper in Lime Juice which was Siam Amarin’s signature dish, Orak Orak, Cha Orm, Gulai Daun Kaduk and Mixed Vegetables. My favourite was the steamed Red Snapper with the Gulai coming a close second.
The service was impeccable and the proprietor Mr. Tan was very friendly and we had a very pleasant evening chatting with him as we dined. He also generously asked his kitchen to cook us his other signature dish, Padfet Seafood which to me seemed as if the seafood was stir fried in spices and grounded curry leaves. He invited us to try the dish and told us that it was on him.
We certainly can't thank him enough for his kind gesture and for making it a perfect night out for us in Alor Setar. If are looking to have a deliciously satisfying meal of Thai cuisine with your family or friends, in a pleasant and friendly environment, I highly recommend Siam Amarin. You won't regret it.
The total price for the whole meal inclusive of a carafe of Lemongrass water and at least 3 buckets of ice, only came to RM145.00 for a party of 4, which I think is...

My favorite is always the Curry Powder Seafood, Cha Om, Garlic Fried Chicken Wings, Fried Talapia fish and Khengsom. Not forgetting the Thai Laksa whenever it's available, it's a MUST TRY! 🤤
The beverages and dessert, my all time favorite is always the Thai Milk Tea or the Gula Melaka Milk Tea. Flavourful and not too much ice as alot of places serves you diluted Milk Tea and loads of ice. Thapthim Krop, is a must have dessert...served with sweet sliced jackfruit, red ruby and adequate gula melaka and coconut milk, the bomb. Most places that sells Thapthim usually gives you more ice and little ingredient.
As for the service, the staff is pretty attentive when it comes to any request. The atmosphere is very cosy, if you are familiar with restaurants in Hadyai, Thailand, it has the similar ambient and cosiness.
Do try to call up to make RSVP before your visit and pre-order your dishes as its the restaurant is pretty busy...
Read moreI’ve had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful restaurant thrice now (tonight will be the 4th time 😋) and it’s only gotten better and better! The atmosphere and decorations of the place elicits peace and calm, the wait staff are polite and pleasant, and everything is clean (including the bathrooms). We’ve ordered the fried chicken dish, the serai drinks, the thai green tea with gula melaka, eggplant with petai, tanghoon with seafood, red ruby dessert, and fresh nangka - all sooo delicious! You can definitely feel how much they care about your experience and the personal love from the owner as he serves you and makes sure your orders are correct. I recommend this place to all my friends and family that visits Alor Star, one of my personal favorite places to dine in. Can’t wait to eat...
