What a great experience dining here. I came here for dinner. They open at around 6-6.30pm. this restaurant is really a hidden gem in Jitra, located just one river across opposite to Sabai Dee (another famous food joint in Jitra). Take a turn onto a very narrow road and you will see this restaurant on your right hand side. I'm gonna review some of the food I tried during my last visit.
I have tried the fried garlic chicken, deep fried fish with apple salad, tofu with minced chicken and basil, and lastly their signature seafood tomyam.
The fried garlic chicken was really crispy and flavourful. At one point I thought I was eating fried mushrooms. Coz the chicken was made so tender and soft.
Deep fried fish with apple salad was the main hit of all. The apple salad tasted like the mango kerabu, but they made it better, substituting mango with green apple, and adding cherry tomatoes and strawberry to enhance the sweet citrusy flavour. The spiciness was about 6/10 for me. The flesh was already separated and plated nicely with the spine of the fish. The fish was fresh and was prepared nicely.
Moving on to Tofu basil minced chicken, tofu was fried to perfection, they even fried the basil leaves and gave it a crunchy texture, as well as enhancing the basil aroma.
Tomyam was the most savory of all. They were very generous with seafood. Small portion consisted of 6 or 7 moderate sized prawns and a good amount of squid. Tomyam was not too spicy, it's more savory than sweet which is the kind I like.
The ambiance is kinda nice. But since it's surrounded by a lot of plants, do expect a bit of mosquitoes when you dine. Surprisingly, there were no houseflies at all hovering around the food, instead this job was done by the mosquitoes. Also do wear long pants as a preventive measure.
For the above dishes, each person spent a little more than RM30 which is kinda reasonable for the quality of food we get. Service was slow as there was only 1 cook preparing the meal. Be prepared to wait about 30-45mins during peak hours. (The food is worth the wait) Parking is limited inside the compound. They can only accommodate a maximum of 5 to 6 cars. There was NO halal certification for this restaurant, it is a no pork no alcohol restaurant. It's frequented by Muslims as well. The chef does look like a Thai Malay guy (my own judgement).
Lastly be sure to make a reservation before you come. It is a small restaurant with limited seating. Will I come...
Read moreWe, family of three ordered Green curry chicken(RM22), fried garlic chicken (RM16) and kerabu glass noodles (RM25). Portion was generous. All 3 dishes were so tasty. The Thai chef is very friendly, assisted by 2 helpers only. So be prepared to wait for a while. Nice atmosphere surrounded by plants. Not a big place, only 8 tables available. Open air seating. Parking is also limited at the compound, can fit in 5 to 6 cars only. Reservation is accepted. Went back second time the next day. Ordered clear seafood tomyum(9.9/10)- the best clear tomyum we have eaten (RM25) deep fried fish green apple salad (7/10)- could find grapes and strawberry in the salad, very special taste (RM55) Tofu minced chicken basil(7/10)- the deep fried tofu was crispy outside and soft inside. But must eat immediately when served before it gets soft with the sauce...
