I have been coming here for a good Malay style seafood dishes. This place may be a little bit crowded on special holidays or on school holidays. As for the parking the pavement is more like dirt and grass so yes your car will be a little dirty. The location is in the inner part of kampung (Village) area, so try not heading there late at night. It is next to an old fishing boat deck, it is somewhat nostalgic for the Malacca history. As for the seafood selection is usually depends on the season and the frequencies of the fishermen going to the sea. There is a few variety of clams, stingrays, and prawns. But mostly are limited because people who are frequent customer of the restaurant tend to order in a large amount as they came in groups. It is not a luxurious or upscale area for dining, it is a humble and casual place but I guess thats just part of it's charms. Whenever you order any seafood dishes there, they usually serve it with a few packets of nasi lemak and otak-otak (seafood paste wrapped in pandan leaves and burnt on charcoal) to accompany the dishes. For beverages there are a few selection from teas to juices. Whenever you are dining here there will be a few times like beggars and homeless people will come around the table and ask for sincere donations and selling tissue papers, it's ok they are trying to make a living too, there is no need to be uncomfortable or ruin your dining experience there. What I love about this place is because of all the lacking of a typical seafood restaurant, the place is old and paints are faded but when you dine there you see there are many families member gather together catching up with one another or maybe there is something to celebrate together. They say the cooking and flavours there are starting to change it was notvas good as it used to be, but for me that is just the standard of any food joints. The are the up and downs, but although the complaints are in, there is still the familiar faces that pops in every now and then, so if they still went there even after the flavours have changed there must be something that is still there worth...
Read moreCan't remember if i've been here ever. There are few outlets to choose but all were packed with people when we arrived at about 8.30pm Sunday night. We decided to choose Hj Nasir outlet, which from the outside look simple but clean. When we went inside, there were a lot of people but we quickly proceed to pick up the fish and other seafood that we aimed.
We took the medium-sized siakap fish to be cooked in 3 rasa on one side and grilled on the other side, large prawns to be cooked butter prawn, sotong goreng tepung, kepah cooked in chili and kangkung belacan.
We got all the food after 40 minutes of waiting. Not that long looking at the big crowd present. Everything was perfect except for the butter prawn which is way out from the normal butter prawn cooked elsewhere. Not sure wether this is Malacca style of butter prawn or only this outlet has a different version of butter prawn.
Sotong goreng tepung was perfect and ikan bakar really taste good. The siakap 3 rasa was not like I expected though the others said its good. To me, if the whole siakap was grilled, that would be better.
And best of all, the whole meal only costs us RM92. Wow, its really worth coming. Anyhow, we were very satisfied with the dinner and definitely would come again whenever we...
Read moreReached the place quite early with the intention to secure the seat and avoid the crowd. However, the seafood offered didn't look fresh as expected. Even their ikan kembung was obviously not fresh - from their bloody red eyes.
The sea prawns and squids were kinda squishy and mushy, indicating it had been outside for quite some time. Made us who came early wondering if probably the shop trying to finish yesterday's stocks.
Sea prawns - ask them to cook as butter nestum. Turned out meh, does not even prepared and cooked properly. It was still raw.
Otak otak - also does not cook properly. The middle part is still mushy.
Squid - ask the shop to cook as Sotong Goreng Tepung. Up to standard. However I'm still disappointed with the lack of freshness.
Cockles - asked to serve as Kerang Bakar. Also well up to standard. If only they could serve with thai syled chilli sauce and sell bigger...
