Man Tom Yam — Restaurant in Negeri Sembilan

We ordered a takeout from Man Tom Yam yesterday, and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We ordered 1 Kerapu Stim Limau, 1 Siakap 3 Rasa, 1 Kangkung Goreng Biasa, and 2 plain rice.

Let's start with the positives. The Siakap 3 Rasa was fried well, and we appreciated that they gave us extra sauce without us having to ask though the sauce was extra salty but I looked passed that. They also gave us free dates to break our fast, which was thoughtful and kind.

However, the rest of the meal did not live up to our expectations. The Kerapu Stim Limau was the biggest disappointment. When we opened the packaging, the fish had fallen apart, even though we took care to keep the fish properly in the car on the 20-minute drive home. My mom, who usually only eats Kerapu from here, was especially disappointed when she noticed that the fish didn’t look like Kerapu at all — it looked more like Siakap. This was a major letdown, especially since we paid specifically for Kerapu.

The Kangkung Goreng Biasa also wasn’t up to standard. It was mostly stems with very few leaves, and the stems were hard, which led us to believe that the kangkung might not have been fresh.

What made the situation worse was when my mom called the restaurant the next day to calmly voice our concerns. The female staff member on the phone was dismissive. Instead of taking our feedback seriously, she responded with “Malas nak cakap banyak” and dismissively said she’d offer us a free fish next time, clearly sounding like she didn't want to deal with the situation. While we appreciate the offer, what we really wanted was to provide constructive criticism so that the quality of food could improve for the future — not a free dish. Was supergood when im around 6-7 years old, now I’m 20 and I dont know how the services got this bad? I think it was since after pkp… the menu has change, no western and now all the variety of nasi goreng also gone.. pluss the worst part is the food was late??? Firstly I come with my friends after a sport so I will review each of the meal.

Nasi goreng USA - The rice is okay, but the daging is quite dry cooked masak merah and the meat is really tough.

Nasi daging merah - Daging is same, really tough and my friend really struggle to eat that.

Nasi putih telur bistik. - telur bistik us quite overcooked and the gravy is like masak 3 rasa. It is okay.
