A&W Bentong — Restaurant in Pahang

Would rate 3.5 - an extra 0.5 stars for a well done waffle (compared to kepong branch).

You can tell the recipe/formula is quite outdated, even the beef coney (which is quite simple menu) has low effort compared to ramly burger stall.

Comments on beef coney: The buns did not buttered well (or not buttered at all). The gravy is too artificially sweeted (explain later on onion matter) Meat+fat to sauce ratio is too diluted (its almost thick soup / meat ketchup at this point) Onion is treated as garnish aka sprinkle on top.....which is supposedly cook together with the meat as whole - and act as a natural sweetener for the meat gravy. Sausage texture is a bit to the chewy hardness (personal preference might differ, for me is a bit too stiff for coney/oblong).

Comments on Fried Chicken: The least favourable among any (even nasi campur ones are better) market/street food option - fried chicken are treated as double breaded chicken and double seasoned. End result is a too salty, bread thick floured chicken skin.

Comments on Root Beer: Its a branch practice/SOP thing - why did you scrap off the bubbles (and refill, and scrap bubbles again, total 3 times) while the selling point was the "beer alike" appearance and bubbling texture on first sip !? Honestly just run it overflow and stop it 1 shot ....since your scrapping method had overflowed the mug anyway.

(Personal preference) - maybe my palette had grown up, its already sugary even before float. Would really preferred some lighter version, or addition of acidity fruits (lemon/lime) to tone down the sweetness.

Did not order mozza burger at this branch but did tried at kepong branch - was nothing special too.

The holy saviour of the day is the waffle (ordered salted caramel single scoop) - its actually well done ! .....apart from some SOP/serving suggestion - please spread it evenly, not chunk the whole lump into center area.

Another weird SOP was the "hand out drinks before food serving" - while its common for local fast food chain to do so, its actually worsen the table seats cycle due to increase use of food tray (my case - single pax with 2 trays, one for just drink, another for just food). If possible just have a dedicated mug handler, space saving and enhance the USP of chilled mug...

Stayed nearby in search for food, ordered fried chicken combo which comes with curly fries and root beer. Fried chicken was still hot but curly fries was cold, asked for change.. attitude of the manager was so rude, didn't apologise but asked the kitchen staff to MAKE SURE YOU MAKE IT HOT HOT HOT!! I mean she doesn't need to shout..I wasn't even angry just wanted to change Customer service at the lowest level.

Honestly there are many other fast food chain here at Bentong, will...

Walked in at 9.05pm just to have an A&W root beer from the tap. Paid RM5.90 for a large root beer. First glass served, was diluted and no gas. Replace with a second glass, it came with no gas. Third glass was even worse, totally diluted. Nothing was said and I was just given a small bottle of A&W.
