Ks Curry House — Restaurant in Pahang

I should have done this review 5 years ago (Google just reminded me!). I had my wedding at Jim Thompson Cottage, Cameron Highlands. At the time it was almost impossible to find an F&B vendor who was available and who would come all the way to cater to 120 guests. We heard about KS Curry house from a friend and went to search for it despite vague directions given. It turned out to be about 20 mins from Jim Thompson. We sat there and waited for 3 hours for the owner to come back to the shop at night and it was totally worth it!

Turns out its a family business, solely run by an elderly uncle. Even though there was a bit of a language barrier, he was the nicest man ever. He took our wedding day orders down on a small paper 555 book that he kept in his pocket and told us to pay in full cash on the day of the wedding (which was to be 4 months later!). No other receipt or digital records. No smart phone either for a conversation trail on Whatsapp.

Despite my initial worries (I called him every month just to remind him) he showed up on the wedding day as promised and the food was SO GOOD! No fancy catering set up. Just simple, hot, fresh Indian curries that's cooked from the heart with quality ingredients at an incredibly affordable rate per person. The masala tea was perfect as well. Don’t get misled by the low ratings; if you look at the specific ones, they either don’t make sense or don’t really say anything. This place is good! If you’re adventurous looking for someone “off the beaten track” and local, this Indian family shop is a bet. Don’t get intimidated even though they don’t really speak English. You just go in, ask for a plate, they’ll hand you one with rice on it, then just scoop what you want from the mini buffet.
