As we were heading to Gua Musang via Cameron Highlands old road, first we went to a hindu temple in Tapah at night. Later while driving, randomly saw this restaurant along the roadside at 9.30pm. Finally we dine in for dinner.
Nyonya Asam Tilapia Fish RM48 (RM4.50 per 100g) - Extremely crunchy. Deep fried at max. The fish head were entirely edible. Taste wise it's good. Fresh fish meat. No exaggeration but simple and classic. Worth trying.
Sizzling Japanese Tofu RM13 - It seems like tofu with mixed vegetables. Taste quite good and mild. No way similar to the authentic Sizzling Japanese tofu. This dish suits well for elderly people and kids. We requested for additional salted fish to be added. But guess they forgotten or skipped. For stronger taste buds, this dish may taste mediocre.
Baby Kailan with Garlic RM11. Delicious and crunchy. Fresh vegetables. Big portion. Must try.
Overall the food here seems abit classic. Beers are served. No enhancement. No fancy presentation. Reasonable pricing. Touch n Go ewallet payment method available. Keep an eye at car side mirror if parking along the main road as huge lorries drive fast.
Will I repeat visit ? Yes. Am I willing to drive from far for...
Read moreAn unassuming road side restaurant, it’s famous for several signature dishes - Smoked Chicken; Steamed Fresh Water Prawn and river fish.
The Smoked Chicken has a very prominent smoked aroma. Taste wise it’s pretty decent and is enhanced by the homemade chilli sauce served on the side. This is a Recommended dish.
Steamed Fresh Water Prawn was steamed on a bed of egg white. The Prawn were fresh and imparted a lovely sweet taste to the egg base. I only wish there was more gravy and perhaps some rice wine. All the same, I’d give this dish a Highly Recommended.
Paku/ Fern Shoots stir fried with salted egg yoke was very good. Kung Po Eel was Good. Stir Fried Bihun was Good as well.
The restaurant gets quite stuffy at noon. There’s a small aircond section but it may not be open if the...
Read moreWe stumbled upon this restaurant by accident on our way back to KL from Cameron Highlands. I have a feeling it will soon become the most popular spot in the area, as their dishes are quite unique.
We tried several of their signature items, including tea leaf smoky chicken, stir-fried eel, and cucumber stir-fried lala, along with a few others. The cucumber lala and kam heong eggplant stood out the most. The tea leaf chicken was just okay for me, as the smokiness was a bit overpowering, and the saltiness was uneven.
The restaurant is housed in a very old shophouse, but we were seated in an air-conditioned room for the 14 of us and dined comfortably.
Definitely worth a return visit to explore more of their unusual dishes and their good variety of...
