We stopped by Ansari Famous Cendol for a bowl of their signature Cendol, and it was everything we hoped for, cold, creamy, fragrant with gula Melaka, and incredibly refreshing in Taiping’s hot weather. Definitely one of the best Cendol we’ve ever tasted!
We also ordered the Pasembor (Rojak), which was delicious. fresh ingredients with a rich, flavorful sauce. The only thing missing was Sotong (cuttlefish), but aside from that, it easily holds up to Klang Valley standards.
Bonus points: the prices are unbelievably cheap!
What made the experience even better was the warm hospitality. We had a lovely chat with who we believe was the boss. He asked where we were from, and when we said Kuching, Sarawak, his face lit up. He said he had visited Kuching before and was amazed by how friendly everyone was. He shared how shocked he was to see Malay food stalls operating side by side with Chinese vendors in a Chinese Kopitiam, something he said you hardly see in Taiping or even Kuala Lumpur.
Great food, great price, and even better people. A must visit...
