This restaurant was highly recommended and we decided to have my father's 80th birthday lunch there. The restaurant was big but nothing fanciful. It was crowded on a Sunday. We were given a nice spot for 4 tables. I spent days looking thru review pics for the right dishes as there were no menu given. Ended up with their package set menu 'Grand harvest combination platter' which was very impressive...9 dishes excluding desserts. As expected, the food was just lukewarm when served because of the displaying time. Everything from the lobster salad to the braised abalone with fish maw was super delicious except for the birthday noodle. The fish broth was not flavourful. We are used to fish head noodles with some salted veg, tomatoes and chinese wine. This soup was bland but noodle was a nice texture. The roasted standing chicken was taken in and turned into two separate dishes...diced meat with mix veg to wrap with lettuce and crispy chicken pieces with pickled salad. The chicken skin was so thin and crispy. Great combination. Besides the 9 dishes platter, we added a suckling pig. It was super crispy and tender. The mantou was soft and fine. Service was excellent. We brought our own whisky and corkage was free. They helped us set-up the birthday cake, played the birthday song and even cut and served the cake. Thank you all for making our celebration a satisfying and memorable one. Definitely...
Read moreEast Ocean Seafood Restaurant, a five-star culinary journey! I had the pleasure of dining there for my great grandmother’s one hundredth birthday.
Now, let’s talk food - everything was great, but the dried butter prawn? Oh my stars, it deserves a constellation named after it. But the ordering process? Well, let’s just say we might have had a friendly debate with the menu.
The environment was a bit rowdy, but hey, it’s like a birthday bonanza in there! Everyone seems to be celebrating something.
And the best part? The prices won’t send your budget into a black hole. Affordable and oh-so-delicious!
Now, about the restrooms - they must think you’re training for a marathon because the distance between the male and female toilets is… let’s say, extensive. Not a downside, just a bit quirky!
In summary, East Ocean Seafood Restaurant is a culinary treasure worth exploring. Fantastic food, a lively atmosphere, and prices that won’t break the bank. Just be prepared for a bit of a menu adventure and some restroom...
Read moreOverall the quality of food and services deteriorated over the years. Was a regular customer, but last visit should be the last. All customers were cramped in the main hall ( about 8 tables ). Noisy and congested, exacerbated by the poor air-conditioning resulting in sweaty hot dining experience. We had to wait for about 10 minutes to be served by waitress. And no menu was available. The waitress ( Captain? ) was the menu, in her own words. Introduced some dishes which we ordered. A little while later, returned and informed 2 of the 4 dishes we ordered were sold off ( we were there at 12.15 pm). Could the food have been sold off so early? Reintroduced some other more expensive dishes ( no idea of the price, no menu, no mention) Dishes small portions, even some core ingredients skimped on fish dish. Concurred by one of the waitress when we complained. She said she too noticed the lack of the core ingredient. Slowly but surely losing steam as one of the better Chinese...
